Bettman announced that the Isles won't get to host the 2026 All Star Game in their relatively new arena (that took fucking decades to get). Instead, it will be a Prolympic Kick Off event at UBS "and environs". Soooo, the old Coliseum? Bridgeport? MSG? Where the fuck are "environs" limited to? Weird.
As you might imagine, Isles fans are pissed off (when aren't we?). While the ASG is kind of stupid, the Isles were never going to host it at their previous arenas and UBS was supposed to finally land them some respectability (as far as their arena goes), or at least stop them being the punchline of arena jokes. Fans were sold on UBS season tickets, partially with the push of "but we'll have the ASG! Aaaaand you can sell your ASG tickets for a shitload of $ if you don't want to go" type of sales pitch. Will a prolympic "send off" be as valuable? Maybe? But fans definitely feel a bait and switch was pulled, and the usual disrespect from Bettman, even though he allegedly grew up an Isles fan.

Per multiple sources, the NHL is canceling their Olympic sendoff event at UBS Arena in February. The 2026 NHL All-Star Weekend was canceled at UBS Arena for the event.
The Islanders have been awarded the 2027 NHL All-Star Game and All-Star Weekend will be from February 5-7, 2027 at UBS Arena.
