Re: The 2024-25 NHL Coaching Watch
Well, I thought this MIGHT be a possibility but still surprised a bit.
ESPN reporting that the Seattle Kraken are firing Dan Bylsma after just one season, and Ron Francis is being bumped upstairs. Jason Botterill gets promoted to GM.
The question everyone asking, it appears Jessica Campbell gets to stay, though if I were her I'd be looking for the first HC opening in the PWHL as fast as I could.

I’m hoping Roy gets fired and the Isles hire Bylsma.

Well, Lou got the axe at least. Well, maybe not the axe, but he's out. No word on your favorite GM, Lil' Lou.Chris18 wrote:I’m hoping Roy gets fired and the Isles hire Bylsma.

I call him CLam. He's destroyed Bridgeport over 8 years, so he can't be in charge of anything.Pokecheque wrote:Well, Lou got the axe at least. Well, maybe not the axe, but he's out. No word on your favorite GM, Lil' Lou.Chris18 wrote:I’m hoping Roy gets fired and the Isles hire Bylsma.

Sully and Pittsburgh mutually part ways I.e. he’s going back to Boston.

Re: The 2024-25 NHL Coaching Watch
I'd like to see Sullivan replace Roy. I'd also take one of my dogs over Roy.

Wysh thinks Sully is going to the Rangers. Yuck.Chris18 wrote:I'd like to see Sullivan replace Roy. I'd also take one of my dogs over Roy.

I said it elsewhere, I'd LOVE to see a coaching swap between Vancouver and Pittsburgh. Sully goes to the Canucks, Toc heads back to the Penguins. That'd be crazy as all hell but not outside the realm of possibility.

Happened with Van and Rangers before. Torts for AV.Pokecheque wrote:I said it elsewhere, I'd LOVE to see a coaching swap between Vancouver and Pittsburgh. Sully goes to the Canucks, Toc heads back to the Penguins. That'd be crazy as all hell but not outside the realm of possibility.

Word is Vancouver offered to make Tocchet the highest paid coach in the NHL. If that's true, (and with the Aqulini's there is good reason to doubt.) then I assume Tocchet would have signed within a day or two, and since he hasn't I'm thinking he's gone. Either of the Penn state teams would be likeliest.Pokecheque wrote:I said it elsewhere, I'd LOVE to see a coaching swap between Vancouver and Pittsburgh. Sullivan would be good, and is being mentioned with the Pens connections in Vancouver's senior management or they promote Maholtra.

I would highly doubt any rumour about making someone like Tocchet the highest paid coach. The very fact that there is a rumour out there alone would make me think he's a goner. Probably planted so lessen the blow.Fogghorn wrote:Word is Vancouver offered to make Tocchet the highest paid coach in the NHL. Sully would be good but I seriously question whether he would want to come back to Vancouver after his initial tenure with Torts and all the hoopla surrounding it.
My bet is NYR for Sully.
As far as Vancouver, I am guessing someone younger and much cheaper.

Tocchet will not be returning to Vancouver to coach next season. Add the Canucks to the head coaching carousel. Probably a blessing in disguise. Their playing style was over scouted and got stale fast, and he has no new ideas.

Re: The 2024-25 NHL Coaching Watch
Can't remember the last time there were this many openings all at once.
I also firmly believe Colorado will be looking for a new bench boss if they don't get the job done on Thursday AND Saturday.
And if the Kings don't rebound from that horrid game 4 loss, I could see Hiller getting the boot. IMO it was a mistake to rip the interim tag off him in the first place. He most certainly did a terrible job coaching there, bad challenge and he had them trying to turtle to hold the lead, which eventually led to Byfield's turnover and GTG for the Oilers. Edmonton took over after that.
Would Tampa really fire Cooper? Hmmmmm...wouldn't bet on it but I don't know.

Re: The 2024-25 NHL Coaching Watch
I was thinking about Cooper as well. Is it time? It might be.
He will be highly sought after if so. I wonder if it is a good idea to invest in these types of coaches straight after their long tenures come to an end. They might need a gap year, but then again, timing is ripe with all of these openings.
I am hearing coach Q to Anaheim. Tocchet wants to be closer to his family east. I thought he lived in Vegas?

I'd bet on that...Logical Progression wrote:Tocchet wants to be closer to his family east. I thought he lived in Vegas?
