Yeah I figured the severity of the injury did not allow much chance for recovery. Sounds like the puck caught him right around the ear area and shattered his temple. Scary stuff. I'm old enough to remember when the youth leagues required ear protection on helmets, I think I was a teenager when I had to have my helmet altered. I believe the NHL still doesn't require it.
