This fucking team...
It's time to close that thread where f*** this team was our mandate. I like what I'm seeing from the Montreal Canadiens right now. So it's time for a more optimistic thread. For the 2021 Montreal Canadiens? This f****** team is intriguing.

Ok Stink!
I've locked the old thread, so we can post in this thread going forward. I too like the direction they are going and time will tell.

This fucking team!
They build us up just to let us down.
In the ye olde thread I correctly predicted the contract may the record show.
I might actually climb down the ledge from my 8 x 6.25M Danault prediction. Maybe he's closer to a 6 x 6.

I think somewhere between 6 x 6 / 6 x 6.5 max would be good for Danault.

Re: This fucking team...
In 5 years we can reopen the old thread and go back to f*** this team
Re: This fucking team...
As for Gallagher, he's the kind of guy you lock up even if you know he'll break down at some point. Couldn't imagine him on another team.

Re: This fucking team...
He has a full no movement clause and at no trade clause limited to six teams. Anybody want to make some guesses on the teams?
My guess that the list would include Ottawa Toronto and Boston. Other than that who else does he really really hate?

Vancouver would be on there although his new contract has put them out of the running.Stinky wrote:He has a full no movement clause and at no trade clause limited to six teams. Anybody want to make some guesses on the teams?

Re: This fucking team...
Since 2017-18, at 5v5, Brendan Gallagher is:
5th in goals. Behind only Matthews, McDavid, Kucherov and Ovechkin
1st in shots.
1st in individual high-danger shots.
1st in rush attempts
1st in rebounds created.
1st in CF% among forwards.
1st in xGF% among forwards

Re: This fucking team...
End of an Era with that thread now locked.
Give Bergy credit--he made Gallagher and his camp blink with the public "leaking" that trade talks had broken off. Gallagher probably took one look at the collapsed forward market this offseason and opted to stay.

Re: This fucking team...
Bergevin was nearly brought to tears at the press conference explaining how important Gallagher is to the team. Brendan said this offseason was a message that it's time to win.
The confidence from both was notable. Bergevin finally has the team of his dreams, so it's all or nothing now. They have to win.

Re: This fucking team...
So as EL noted in the old thread of potential lines, which I will put here.
Drouin-Suzuki-Anderson
Tatar-Danault-Gallagher
Lehkonen-Kotkaniemi-Toffoli
Byron-Poehlevans-Armia
Chiarot-Weber
Edmundson-Petry
Kulak-Romanete
Pricallen
This does look pretty decent! Not sure about cup winner, but decent.

Re: This fucking team...
I'd say it's an overpay for Gallagher but hea, if you're going overpay on anyone it's going to be Gallagher who brings it each and every night plus some.
Re: This fucking team...
The timing is right, too.
Tampa has some cap bloodletting to do, the Bruins lost a top pairing defenceman to free agency and two stars to injury, and Toronto shored up their depth problems with Spezza and Thornton. The young Habs are coming.

Re: This fucking team...
The goaltending too. Now or never.
Re: This fucking team...
Julien is giving a press conference right now and basically don't expect the team to stick to the LD-RD format next season: Romanov, Mete and Kulak all in the mix for the 3RD spot.
I would expect the two top pairings to be:
Chiarot-Weber
Edmundson-Petry
Followed by Kulak, Mete, Romanov, Fleury, Juulsen, Ouellet, Olofsson, Leskinen, Brook all vying for the final 2 main spots and 1/2 bench spots. Healthy competition.

Re: This fucking team...
I'm not sure. The way they're talking they fully think Romanov will make the team. Mete looking like the 7th right now.Scott 679 wrote:You think Mete is ahead of Romanov?

That's what I'm thinking also. Just you had Mete ahead of Romanov, and I would agree, that Mete will be 7th.E.L. wrote:I'm not sure. The way they're talking they fully think Romanov will make the team. Mete looking like the 7th right now.Scott 679 wrote:You think Mete is ahead of Romanov?

Re: This fucking team...
Seems a bit of a waste to have someone as talented as Mete sitting in the press box.
Up front that team looks pretty solid. On the back end...still lacking a real impact guy. I feel like Edmundson was really unnecessary but I guess Bergevin had his sights set on the guy.
