Kraken smartly passing on train wrecks and heavily used goods.
Re: Release the Kraken!
Yeah, no albatrosses. Gourde's the longest deal reported so far.harmfuljays wrote:Kraken smartly passing on train wrecks and heavily used goods.
Heavy on defensive depth and scrappy forwards, but light on offence.

Re: Release the Kraken!
I'm surprised an analytics-savvy organization is going with a defense that looks kinda big and slow (Larsson, Giordano, Oleksiak).

Re: Release the Kraken!
I wonder if the NHL finally gagged those media guys. Ruining the show tonight!
Re: Release the Kraken!
As it stands now, the Kraken will have about 40M in cap space. The expansion draft is just the beginning for them.

Re: Release the Kraken!
A top 6 of McCann, Gourde, Eberle, Donskoi, Jarnkrok, Tanev might not score a bunch, but they'll be a pain in the butt. But they'll add more bodies, for sure. Appleton and Blackwell fit that MO too and could move up to middle-6 forwards.

Re: Release the Kraken!
Looking forward to finding out all of the side deals.
And which player they selected from the Wings
(Stecher)

Larsson: 4 years, 4M AAV
Oleksiak: 5 years, 4.6M AAV
Locks in a second D pair.

Re: Release the Kraken!
I was happy to hear that Seattle's pick from Detroit was Cholowski. He never really improved to a top 6 defenseman for the Red Wings. He's an RFA who has used up his options so he'll have to face waivers if he doesn't make Seattle's NHL roster. I hope this is a good move for him as he's from the Pacific northwest.E.L. wrote:Cholowski!Bosc wrote:Looking forward to finding out all of the side deals.

Bíonn macalla ag an bheatha sa tsíoraíocht. Liverpool FC: 2019 and 6-time Champions of Europe. 2025 and 20 time English Premier League Champions YNWA. JFT 97. RIP Diogo Jota # 20.

At the time, the deal Holland made to get out from under Datsyuk's final year was fine, even good. Moved down a few spots, got a second rounder and moved Datsyuk's cap hit. They didn't get fleeced like everyone expected because it was saving the Yotes $7M in literal fucking cash(everyone seemed to ignore that part). But with the difference in how Cholowski vs. Chychrun developed, and then how Holland spent that money on fucking terrible long-term contracts for players on the very wrong side of the aging curve...it was absolutely disastrous. He should have rebuilt and the whole thing along with the other contracts set the team back a good 5 years.

Re: Release the Kraken!
That whole situation was a sham......from the safe picks and deals out of Ron Francis down to the cat out of the bag from News writers on twitter.
Trying to watch the "premiere" from ESPN 2 was difficult......where they pretended there was mystery and intrigue when in fact anyone with an internet connection already knew all the picks. Its was like trying to pretend that Santa exists after you've been told otherwise.
After all the wait and hype that was a poorly managed turd.
Let's hope it picks up for the Kraken at the draft and in FA because that roster is barely competitive as is.

Re: Release the Kraken!
The only good part of the ESPN broadcast, besides Marshawn Lynch saying Calle Jarnkrok, was Seattle itself. Beautiful city!

Re: Release the Kraken!
Maybe that was meant to include the local firm Starbucks? Like a barista massacring his name on a latte? That would have been funny.E.L. wrote:The only good part of the ESPN broadcast, besides Marshawn Lynch saying Calle Jarnkrok, was Seattle itself. Beautiful city!
And they picked a hell of a day to have an outside presser in Seattle. The weather was one of the nicest things going for it.
And who the fucking fuck was the clown running the presser alongside Moore? What a wanker.
Posting your political views on social media is like sticking your head up your ass & whispering: You're just as likely to change someone's mind, and you'll always come out looking like a shithead.
Re: Release the Kraken!
Grubauer signing voided by improper paperwork, but it should all be good now.
GM Ron Francis didn't have the best rep leaving Carolina, and I can't say he's grabbed the job by the horns here. Didn't play the compensation game during expansion, spent on mid-level players in free agency.

Ronnie Franchise saying right off the bat that he ain't taking any chances with goaltending if he can help it.
That said, Grubauer is a good starter, but by no means is he great. I'd argue he's a better version of Freddy Andersen, which you can interpret however you like.

Anyone else keep thinking of Seattle as the Seattle Krakheads?
