The Artemi Panarin Watch

Post by Pokecheque »

Panarin and Kekalainen met at the French Riviera recently for 45 minutes. Doesn't sound like progress was made but apparently the Breadman has set down a hard deadline of September 13, after which point he won't discuss a contract extension. With anyone.

So that basically means the original plan of "let's see where we're at" a couple months into the season might be out the window.

First Lebron rejects Ohio a second time, now this. Panarin is totally in the driver's seat and if he wants to take his talents to New York, Los Angeles, South Beach, Las Vegas or back to Chicago in a year, he can.

At least he's not pulling a Tavares and giving Jarmo false hope. If the Jax decide to go for it with Panarin and Bob this year because they've never been closer, I would totally understand. But yeah, might be best to part with him. Gotta think the offers will be good, he could be the difference for a contending team.

I honestly don't think they're close enough. Trade him. Rangers got all kinds of decent young players and prospects. It's a bitch because the Jax have never had a player as dynamic as Panarin, but what can ya do?

I'd trade Bob too, I suppose it just depends on how close they think Korpisalo is though.

One season of Dubois getting better, Wennberg rebounding, Jones and Werenski being Norris contenders, Bob being Bob and Bread gunning for the Art Ross isn't enough? I think they have to try. Not too many teams have a young nucleus like that. This ain't your dad's Jackets hoping on Dubinsky and Foligno to shut down Crosby.

Chicago laundered Panarin through Columbus so they could fix their cap issues and sign him back. A very deliberately coup between club and agent/player. Just watch.

My thoughts exactly. Much respect to Panarin!

Apparently he's switched to Bob's agent. Rumours ahoy!
Thanks Chuck, E.L. and Harmy!

Boy it almost feels like both he and Bob headed to Florida is, like, a done deal.

If they somehow engineer a deal with the Panthros that'll be very NBA-like.

Columbus are going for it!

Matt Duchene joins with no roster player leaving. Panarin and Bob appear to be staying unless a big offer (*cough cough* Huberdeau, Hoffman, Brassard *cough cough*) comes in.

Panarin is leaving, but not without a final last-minute F U offer by GM Jarmo: 8 years, 13.5M AAV.

No way in hell he signs it, but it may have just increased his ask from the Isles.
