Still the best team in hockey, even though the streak is over.

Cam Atkinson is PPG and Sam Gagner has 28 pts in 36 games. What a world we're living in.

Speaking of Cam, he gets locked down for 7 years, $5.875 million AAV.

Portzline tweeted that the Jackets will now be focusing their efforts on getting a center for Panarin.

Dubinsky, Foligno and Atkinson are locked up for a while. Not sure I think any of them are worth the money.

Then again, Wennberg and Jones look like bargains.

I used to think Columbus has a whole lotta good players but no truly great ones. I think that's largely true still. Of course they have a phenomenal top pairing (Jones/Werenski) and a truly gifted offensive talent (Panarin) but they still seem to have some real needs, especially at center.

Wennberg didn't seem like much of a bargain to start this year. But he's on the shelf now so I'm wondering if he was trying to play through something and it hampered him.

This is the team that makes the most sense to trade for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. They have depth to spare and need a top line C, Edmonton is in desperate need for scoring depth on the wings.

Never a dull moment in Columbus. They can never seem to have all their parts in place at the same time.

Pierre-Luc Dubois is quickly emerging as the team's number one centre of the future. If he and Wennberg can bring it at the same time, watch out.

That being said, Jack Johnson is being an off-ice distraction yet again by publicly asking for a trade. What a bum.

I feel bad for the guy. He's clearly not that bright and has been ridiculously sheltered by his money-grubbing, attention-seeking parents. Just a sad situation all around. The organization to their credit has handled the issue with as much class as could be expected.

Jarmo's doin' some weeeeeird shit going into the deadline.

I feel kinda bad for him. The whole Jack Johnson fiasco has been a huge distraction and has put him in a real bind, and frankly I think the Jackets would've moved on from JJ if Ryan Murray wasn't made of cheap glass. That's not to say he hasn't made some mistakes (I think he commits $$$ to certain players he should probably trade, like Savard and Atkinson) but this really does seem like the hard-luck franchise.

Tight Patrick division, but C-Bus is in.

Pierre-Luc Dubois picked a good time to become a franchise player. Werenski and Jones are both future Norris guys (maybe Jones this season). All they need is Wennberg to wake the hell up and for Foligno and Dubinsky to get back to grindin' in the playoffs.

A real good player from the Swedish league is coming over: 2017 pick Jonathan Davidsson from Djurgardens.

Davidsson is coming over, but future top-4 D Vladislav Gavrikov and French prospect Alex Texier are staying in Europe.
