Fitting that the "new look" Avs face off against the team closest to them in the standings.
Definitely a statement game...we'll see if these rentals are worth it. To be honest, rentals really shouldn't happen unless you're a contender, but whatever, what's done is done...the only thing to do now is to make the most out of the current situation.
I'm kinda torn. On one hand, if Boedkker flounders, the Avs definitely won't keep him. But if he somehow hits a Jamie McGinn-type hot streak, they'll sign him for some decent $$$ and likely regret it. I suppose if the latter happens, there's always the buyout option.

Guessing Minnesota was also Colorado's main competitor for Boedker's services.
Minny has been playing better since turfing Yeo, but they were expected to add something more than David Jones at the deadline.

Most teams were expected to add more than they did. This had to be one of the most boring deadlines in years.E.L. wrote:Guessing Minnesota was also Colorado's main competitor for Boedker's services.

Posting your political views on social media is like sticking your head up your ass & whispering: You're just as likely to change someone's mind, and you'll always come out looking like a shithead.

It was definitely a buyer's market and most teams just plain balked at the prices. Or you have an organization like Vancouver that's so horribly run they end up trading no one off a team destined for a lottery pick.

Well, if that was a statement game, the statement was: Better luck next year, Avs.
6-3 thumping, of course those final two were ENGs.
Tyson Barrie continues to impress despite the fact he once again has a boat anchor as a d-partner. Nick Holden is actually a significant improvement upon Nate Guenin, but that just signifies how utterly horrid Guenin was than being any sort of compliment for Holden. And for whatever reason, they went and traded for a defenseman who still can't bump him off the top four. That's pretty damning by any measure.
