Re: Official THE JETS SUCK Thread
Yowza, Bones hit the nail on the head. This team has had a leadership problem for a while, and all signs point to Wheeler, Scheifele.
Where do they go from here? Hellebuyck and Dubois are the ones closest to leaving and can fetch a lot. I think Ehlers is amazing but hasn't stayed healthy.
Perfetti, Lucius, Rutger will eventually have to take over this team.

Amidst all the frustration this hockey season generated for me as an Avs fan, this salty drama is giving me life.E.L. wrote:Yowza, Bones hit the nail on the head. This team has had a leadership problem for a while, and all signs point to Wheeler, Scheifele.

I especially love the pushback from the players now, Blake Wheeler essentially bitching that Bones should have done it behind closed doors.
Love it, my respect for Bones just vaulted by a country mile. He was brought in to change the culture in Winnipeg, and he took a fuckin' blowtorch to it. YES!!!!
Re: Official THE JETS SUCK Thread
So it wasn't Maurice's fault all along...
Elliotte reporting the Jets have no choice but to take calls on pending UFAs PLD, Hellebuyck, and Scheifele, but they don't want to rebuild. Ensuring more mediocrity to come.

Re: Official THE JETS SUCK Thread
Dubois won't re-sign, and neither will Hellebuyck.
Jets don't want to tear down, but they could get enough pieces dealing them and Scheifele (I assume Wheeler isn't a hot commodity) and build around Ehlers, Connor, Morrissey with all those new pieces, plus a healthy Perfetti.
Could be a quick reset in Peg.

How many times is this guy going to get sent somewhere he doesn't want to go? LA is not Montreal. LA is the epitome of a US shit hole. Maybe they can swing a 3 way with the Habs.
One must imagine sisyphus happy

Most people would say LA is pretty nice, especially coming from Winnipegharmfuljays wrote:How many times is this guy going to get sent somewhere he doesn't want to go? LA is not Montreal. LA is the epitome of a US shit hole. Maybe they can swing a 3 way with the Habs.

Well I guess he does want to be in LA for at least 8 years!

Re: Official THE JETS SUCK Thread
Good haul for the Jets. Vilardi and Kupari could actually be something. Iafallo is decent right now.

Re: Official THE JETS SUCK Thread
Shocking news: Scheifele and Hellebuyck go from one foot out the door to signing identical 7 x 8.5M AAV contracts.

Re: Official THE JETS SUCK Thread
Iiiiiiiiiiiinteresting. It appears the deal that sent Pierre-Luc Dubois packing actually encouraged Connor Hellebuyck to stay.

The article also implies the buyout of former captain Blake Wheeler may have helped as well but it sure sounds like Dubois was persona non grata in Winnipeg.

Jets' sagging attendance and season ticket base are getting bad enough that the NHL is investigating and ownership has sent out a cry for help. That's not good.
Doesn't help that Winnipeg just doesn't have a huge corporate base.

According to Darren Dreger, Rick Bowness is set to announce his retirement. Remember he essentially retired after Dallas and was coaxed back into the NHL by Winnipeg IIRC.
Rough year for him off the ice, dealing with major health issues for both himself and his wife. And certain players *coughscheifelecough* made it abundantly clear they weren't happy with his performance behind the bench in the playoffs.
As an Avs fan, I'm all for them just opting for Scott Arniel, dude was a complete disaster in Lumbus. They might still be good under him, since no one has been any good in Lumbus, but I just don't see a great coach there. Certainly not good enough to cure what ails that team.

Athletic reports the Jets are going to shop Nikolaj Ehlers. One year left on his 7-year deal. Just never really got the respect he deserved from the organization. He's a great puck carrier and offensive presence.
But if he's a pending UFA and doesn't want to re-sign, it's an easy decision to move him.

I don't blame him one bit for wanting out. He's been their most consistent and reliable player and Bowness would throw his ass in the doghouse the moment he made a mistake.E.L. wrote:Athletic reports the Jets are going to shop Nikolaj Ehlers. The worst had to be in game 4 when Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, all of 23 points in 99 regular season NHL games, got bumped to the 2nd line at Ehler's expense. Naturally, AJF did not score.
Re: Official THE JETS SUCK Thread
Maybe the most underrated name that'll be moved this offseason: top prospect Rutger McGroarty.
He actually wanted to play in Winnipeg, but the league's most conservative (i.e. shit) GM didn't want to give him a shot.
I figure he'll be dealt for his pick equivalent: a 10-15 overall type player. Like the Cutter/Drysdale trade.

Not familiar with the kid- why will he be traded?E.L. wrote:Maybe the most underrated name that'll be moved this offseason: top prospect Rutger McGroarty.

Posting your political views on social media is like sticking your head up your ass & whispering: You're just as likely to change someone's mind, and you'll always come out looking like a shithead.
Re: Official THE JETS SUCK Thread
He wanted to sign and join the big club to burn a year off his deal like every prominent NCAA player does, but Winnipeg said he had to go to camp and earn a spot. After watching Perfetti and Heinola get buried, I'm sure he's not interested in spending 3 years with the Moose for no good reason.Chris18 wrote:Not familiar with the kid- why will he be traded?E.L. wrote:Maybe the most underrated name that'll be moved this offseason: top prospect Rutger McGroarty.
