Sharks eliminated last night. Really, heads should roll for this.

Unfortunately, it'll be all the wrong ones.

And I imagine Jumbo Joe will be traded.

Joe won't go, neither will Marleau. They care more about chilling in Cali than about winning or pressure from upstairs. Wilson fucked up bad by deciding to try a half assed rebuild after locking up Joe and Marleau for 3 more years. When he signed those extensions he was for all intents and purposes locked in to trying to win for 3 more years. Either he or the owners had a tantrum after losing to LA and tried to back out but it was too late.

Joe Thornton couldn't be more willing to get everyone fired for how things have gone this past year.

Maybe the owner will realize they are stuck with Joe and Marleau so can't rebuild, might as well go for it for next 2 years with tons of cap room. owner is the mega-billionaire founder of SAP so he can afford it. This is essentially the same team that was 1 game (and 1 or 2 defensemen) away from sweeping LA last playoffs. Lots of defense UFAs this summer, pick 2 of Oduya, Jackman, Franson, Martin, Zybnek Michalek, Sekera, maybe add a solid forward (and move Burns back up) and this is instantly a contending team again for the next 2 seasons.

MAKE IT HAPPEN SHARKS!!!!!!!!!!

Welp, this is gonna be interesting to watch. Slightly retooled roster, new coach, new goalie, and no first round pick in 2016.

Bit of a risk signing Paul Martin to a multi-year deal, but if it pans out, they have a pretty nice-looking defense.

Also, is Raffi Torres gonna play this year?

This is going to be a very intriguing year in SJ. One year after declaring themselves a "tomorrow team" and doing just about everything possible to alienate Joe Thornton, the team goes into 2015-16 with a capped-out roster and no first round pick.

Sharts sign pugilist Frazer McLaren, to presumably replace John Scott.

Waste of space if he makes the roster.

Well they certainly weren't a tomorrow team last night.

http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/san-j ... -must-see/

No matter how the actual team does, the PR department for the Sharks is top-notch. And THN posted the actual 1993 computer generated video that was used in their first season, which is all-out hilarious.

Also, didn't think I'd ever say this about a uniform conceived in the early 90s, but the Sharks need to bring those throwbacks back full time in the worst way.

The Tomorrow Team is an all-in on today team.

Marleau might be gone, but Thornton is back on a one-year deal.

They also locked up Jones (6 years, 5.75M AAV) and Vlasic (8 years, 7M AAV) long long long-term.

I don't think so. They'll scrape to make the playoffs.

Most shocking thing to me: Pavelski is 33.

After watching them up close (I watched them play just about the ugliest game I've ever seen in a shootout loss to the Ducks earlier this season, but only caught the 3rd and OT) for the first time this season I still can't figure these guys out. They're not quite as slow as I thought they were, but they're not fast by any means. Thornton is still an ace player, but I didn't notice Couture and Pavelski a whole lot, Labanc on the other hand seemed to be everywhere. The Wookiee wearing #88 of course was a force, doing what he does best, shooting non-stop, and also set the Other Bearded Guy up for a nice breakaway goal to close within 1 of the Avs. Still, I don't see much in the way of truly dangerous players up front for the Sharks. They need another star in the worst way possible. Meier, Labanc, et al ain't enough.

But what's really killing them now is goaltending. DeBoer is trying his damndest to avoid a goaltending controversy, but I'm afraid he's got one whether he likes it or not. Jones simply ain't cuttin' it for some odd reason. DeBoer has to go with the hot hand.

To quote an old commercial...Dude, you got a Dell.

Another strong season for the tomorrow team.

They made the playoffs but nobody outside of Burns/Vlasic posted big numbers. Even Jones was up and down.

Then again they have a balanced offence with Pavelski, Couture, Jumbo, Kane, Tierney, Labanc, Meier, Boedker, Donskoi. Maybe Ward and Hansen will turn it up in the playoffs.

Geez, didn't notice the contract that Couture signed on July 1. 8x8!!!

Hertl also signed at 4x5.625. He's young but that's fairly steep for his production so far.

Strange to see a power play featuring Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson on the points struggling so far.

Boy for all the shit Erik Karlsson gets from time to time about his defensive ability, Brent Burns is outright horrid in his own zone at times.

I wonder if the Sharks could fix things by once again switching him to forward for a time.

12-9-5 after 26 games, 4-4-2 in their last 10, -2 goal differential. Across the board "meh" numbers.

Still, good enough for 2nd in the worst division in hockey.

I think, right now, their biggest problem is that of a lot of struggling or otherwise ordinary teams--the goaltending ain't holding up their end of the bargain. Hard to give Arendelle any crap seeing as how he's been an okay backup, but Martin Jones has simply been...not good.

SJ had a slow start last season and finished relatively strong, so they should be fine, especially in the paltry Pacific, but these guys definitely don't look like Cup favorites right now.

Karlsson is getting a ton of flack but I don't think he's been the issue.
