Arizona Coyotes vs. Buffalo Sabres.

Sabres look like they have the bottom spot locked up, but if they win tonight they'll be only three points back of the Yotes.

Hard to watch that and not feel for Mike Weber.

Weber is awful. But I do agree with him. I hate the "embrace the tank" mob. I think it sucked that these so-called Sabres fans were cheering for AZ. I'm glad I didn't have tickets for this one.

I don't like the 'tank' but actually agree with it as a long term strategy. Here is a far better option than that, do away with the draft.

http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/nhl/why-the-nhl-should-abolish-the-draft-and-let-connor-mcdavid-go-to-the-highest-bidder

As a bonus it would end the over valued UFA payments.

I don't like it because most of the better kids are going to go for the bigger name teams. I know they have to spend within the cap like everyone else, but I can't see a McDavid going to Buffalo or Edmonton if Toronto or Montreal are offering similar terms. Those smaller market teams aren't going to get players, even if they can offer $$$. Would big market teams then have to trade decent players to smaller market teams who have cap space? Maybe. But I just don't see small market teams adding big name prospects. Ever.

Actually a lot of players seem to like the anonymity of playing in smaller US markets. Edmonton would have a problem but I doubt any other team would. Most players seem to want either the money or to win, other factors are minor in comparison.

But everyone wants to play in Toronto. They're all going to give hometown discounts... Original six!
