Gentlemen -
A noteworthy change implemented by yahoo this year is that you can now trade next season's draft picks. I'm new with this as well, but should make things interesting.

Please remember that the draft is scheduled for Sunday, Oct 2 9:00pm EDT

Yahoo does offer free "mock drafts", which I suggest people try simply to be sure there system is up to date. It's imperative to log-in early for the actual draft in the event you have any connectivity issues or high traffic. I speak from experience in where I missed my first couple picks.

As before, friends & family are welcome as long as you're confident they will pay the *$52.25 entrance fee.
*If paying via Paypal (see league page for address), please add 3.9% + $0.30 which cover Paypal transaction fees (total of $52.25), otherwise, check or money order in the amount of $50.00.

$50- entrance fee

$40- goes to the pot for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place (50%, 30%, 20% respectively) for final REGULAR SEASON standings.

Then the extra $10- from each club goes to the bonus of whoever wins the Championship.

If you have not yet joined or know somebody who is interested, kindly register sooner rather than later so we may avoid the eleventh hour scramble to establish an even number of teams for this head-to-head league.

Of course, I'm available for any questions or to provide further details to any prospective new managers, so please feel free to email me.

Good luck gentlemen & I once again am looking forward to the competition.

:Butch:

Either Yahoo is getting a LOT better at pre-rankings or I'm getting lazier. I really didn't have much to argue with on their list. They even put Sid the Kid way lower due to his injury, something past iterations failed to do. Maybe the Puck Daddy people are in on it now.

Butch, if it's okay I will pay you on Monday evening. Unfortunately I do not get my first paycheck from the new job until then.

No problem Av - no rush. And congrats on the new job!

Good question / concern posed by Tuzer on the new waiver setting which breaks down like this:

(This is what we've traditionally had):
If waivers are enabled, all players dropped from a team's roster are immediately placed on a waiting period from one to seven days to give all managers a chance to claim those players. If more than one manager claims the same player, the waiver priority determines which manager's request is processed first.

Continual rolling list: waiver claims are processed in waiver priority order and each successful claim moves a manager to the end of the waiver priority list

(The new setting):
In a Free Agents Acquisition Budgets (FAAB) waivers system, each manager receives a dollar amount to place blind bids on waived players. The manager with the highest bid at the end of the waiver period claims that player, and that bid amount is deducted from the team's acquisition budget. If multiple managers place an equal bid on a player, the tiebreak is as described above.

FAAB w/ Continual rolling list tiebreak

So in otherwords, say Masterskaters drops James Reimer. Any other club that wants to pick him up will do a "silent auction" in where you wager "x" amount of dollars. Whoever wagers the most gets James Reimer (and now has a decreased waiver budget). Should 2 teams wager the same amount, whomever has the hightest waiver priority wins that claim.

What do you guys think? This setting is new this year so thought we would try it, but it sure can make you reconsider putting in a waiver claim however.

Well I can't wait any longer; Yahoo locks this about 1:30 pre-draft, so we need to get somebody on ASAP to make it an even number of teams ... That means now! I'll keep trying here.

Your 2011-2012 Hammer's Hammers. I think I messed up. I think my main problem is the same as last year, over-weighting PIMs too much because they count for a lot more in my main keeper pool and hard to adjust accordingly for this pool which has way more categories. I also tried to pick up wingers before centers due to depth of position, we'll see how that works out. I wanted strong goalies since they are so important in this league, hope that works out but Niemi was an autopick reach. Draft was happening during dinner and getting kids ready for bed so I got stuck with a couple autopicks where I would have liked to re-adjust my queue but resisted the temptation to leave my 2.5 month old alone in the bath while I ran to the computer!

Hammer's Hammers
1. (6) Evgeni Malkin (Pit - C,RW)
2. (19) Rick Nash (Cls - LW,RW)
3. (30) Carey Price (Mon - G)
4. (43) Antti Niemi (SJ - G)
5. (54) Ryane Clowe (SJ - LW,RW)
6. (67) Kris Letang (Pit - D)
7. (78) Keith Yandle (Pho - D)
8. (91) Scott Hartnell (Phi - LW)
9. (102) Brandon Dubinsky (NYR - C,LW)
10. (115) David Krejci (Bos - C)
11. (126) Jamie Benn (Dal - LW)
12. (139) Alex Goligoski (Dal - D)
13. (150) Devin Setoguchi (Min - RW)
14. (163) Jakub Voracek (Phi - RW)
15. (174) Tuomo Ruutu (Car - LW)
16. (187) Marek Zidlicky (Min - D)

Good God...FIVE game-winning goals in one week!?

Not gonna win this one.

You suck Pavelec. Or moreover, your team does.

I just noticed the trade proposals for my team. I'll make my decisions tomorrow. :buddhaI

Generally during the week I only have time on Sunday evenings to look into my fantasy pool teams with any detail and make adjustments, so anyone proposing a trade keep that in mind.

This is easily the best trade rebuttal I have seen yet:

Malletts Bay Militia offers
Brooks Laich
Ryan Whitney
Cory Schneider

In exchange for:

King Khan
Jarome Iginla
Chris Pronger
Martin Brodeur

King Khan rejects the proposal; responding:

this trade will make me look like an idiot...

Short, honest & direct!
