4-time Cup champ, a polarizing figure to some but one hell of a hockey player.
Rest In Peace.

Wow.
He looks so good carrying the torch. I hope it was a heart attack or a stroke not the disease that seems to take so many middle-aged men or at least spur them into taking themselves.

Re: Claude Lemieux 1965-2026
I'm guessing if it was this sudden it has to be a heart attack.
Re: Claude Lemieux 1965-2026
Damn. 60 is young. He could be dirty but there was no denying his skill or determination.

A player every fan hated, unless he played for your team. And every fan wishes they were that lucky.

He committed suicide. A terrible day all around. At least I’m proud we got this beautiful piece from Jack Todd:

That's awful news. Rick and Nuckles must be feelin' it.

Re: Claude Lemieux 1965-2026
Nuckles had Lemieux on his podcast and Claude came across as extremely intelligent and well spoken. I can't help but think the style of hockey played during his era, the headshots going unpunished and the undisclosed concussions contributed to his depression.
Darren McCarty has done a YouTube short regarding Lemieux. Kris Draper informed him of Claude's death and Darren finished by saying, "If you're having trouble please get help."

He drove me crazy at times, but there was never any question about his talent or compete level. One hell of a hockey player. RIP.

Loved to hate this guy - and you absolutely wanted him 0n your team

Lemieux's brain is being donated to the Boston University CTE Center to research the long-term effects of repetitive brain injuries. Hopefully this will facilitate honest conversations for athletes and families who struggle with mental illness from playing the hockey.

I hope so, but we all know how the NHL will respond.Logical Progression wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 2:54 am Lemieux's brain is being donated to the Boston University CTE Center to research the long-term effects of repetitive brain injuries. Re: Claude Lemieux 1965-2026
been doing some reading around this.
It may be the concussions
But also highly likely comorbidity of severe ADHD - impulsivity specific Rejection sensitivity dsyphoria unsupported or poorly supported by a system that doesn't know how to care for a warrior.
Really sad and far too common.

Family released a statement that they’re donating his brain to CTE research.

Re: Claude Lemieux 1965-2026
Hopefully something good comes out of this. Far too young and a sad way for his life to end and his family to lose him. RIP, Claude. You were one hell of an opponent, for better or for worse.E.L. wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 1:10 pm Family released a statement that they’re donating his brain to CTE research.
Thanks Chuck, E.L. and Harmy!
