Goalie coach takes the fall for Montembeault’s struggles. Raymond was a Bergy holdover so surprised he lasted this long.
Dobes might be the no. 1 now. He’s unconventional but has a 17-5 record. Ride him while he’s the hot hand and pray Monty can get it back after the break with a new coach.
If not, Fowler might be back up by the deadline.
Maybe its just me, but I've never been a fan of Monty, even when we got him off waivers from Florida. To me he's an average goalie at best, who had an amazing season last year and somehow made team Canada.
To me he's always someone I thought would be an amazing back up but average as a starter.
I agree. Monty was a fine placeholder but he gives up too many soft goals to truly be a trustworthy number one. He had a career year last season after Primeau fell apart but I think that 60+ game load burned him. Got hurt in the playoffs and hasn’t looked right since.
I agree, he hasn't looked right since the injury and yes the 60 game schedule probably did kill him, but I still think had he not been injured he still would have come back down to earth from last season.
Dobes loses for the first time in 2026, in OT to the Wild. Habs are playing well. Feels like they’re just a shade below the elite teams, but have the talent to hang with them on some nights.
The chemistry between Suzuki, Caufield, Hutson, Demidov, Slafkovsky, Dobson is sick. If they could play 60 minutes a night life would be great.

Yes, I feel the exact same way they are just a shade below other teams. Either one more stud player or just consistent goaltending. They are 2nd in the league in goals for just behind the Avs.

Hughes said they got a deal done but it was nixed for being too late. Said they’d revisit it in the summer. So it can’t be Kadri, was it Thomas?
Habs would be set if they could find that 2C. I get that RT may not be your cup of tea but I don’t see anyone else who would be better.
I think the move was for a right-handed defenceman because that’s the more immediate need, but I could be wrong.
Thomas would be great, but the Habs are the second best offensive team in the league right now. I think the 2C they need ought to be a Bennett type with jam. Team is soff.
So this is what its like to have goaltending! Think of all the games the Habs lost this year to crappy goaltending. I am not saying he would have won everyone, but we would have easily been in first in the Atlantic.
Celebrini walked all over the Habs on Saturday night. Once McDavid and MacKinnon take a step back Macklin will be the clear best player in the league.
LVP this season has to be Guhle. Sure, he suffered another weird injury, but he’s here to be a shut down guy and can’t do it, while also providing nothing on offence. He needs a consistent d-partner, though.
Defence is imbalanced right now with 4 LDs. They might call up Engstrom when he’s healthy because he’s comfortable on the right side.
How are you guys feeling about the Habs' chances to make the playoffs. Isles and them are in a similar situation and I'm checking the standings every few hours in case they somehow changed, even when there aren't games.
Posting your political views on social media is like sticking your head up your ass & whispering: You're just as likely to change someone's mind, and you'll always come out looking like a shithead.

They’ll make the playoffs. But they’re all offence, no defence, so I don’t expect them to go far.
