2025-26 Detroit Red Wings Season

Post by Bosc »

The Wings need Gibson's 2024-25 season to be a return to form for this season too, not the misery of the seasons prior on bad Ducks teams.

Rookies making the team out of camp:
Michael Brandsegg-Nygård, 15th overall pick in 2024.
Emmitt Finnie, 2023, 201st overall 7th rounder! from 2023
and the highly touted and decorated Axel Sandin-Pellikka, 17th overall pick from 2023

ASP has already has a very impressive resume, winning Swedish Defenseman of the Year as an 18-year old.

Gibson and the Wings as a whole looked rough last night.

Wings outshoot the Leafs, come back from 2-0 deficit and win.

Leafs badly outshoot the Wings, Talbot pulls one out 3-2.

Win against the Panthers 4-1.

3-1 to start the season against division teams that finished higher last year. I definitely would not be looking for this goalie tandem to carry them to a playoff spot, that's for sure.

Sens and Cats lost their Tkachuks, so like the Habs I think the Wings have a shot to pad a little lead in the Atlantic race.

Of all the throwbacks/fauxbacks the Red Wings have come out with, this is by far their best one.

Wings beat the Lightning in OT and hold McDavid and Drai to 3 total shots in a 4-2 win. Gibson with both victories, which is definitely promising. Wings on a 5-game win streak after the awful 1st game against Montreal.

Larkin's first goal was a beauty.

Finnie with his first two goals and 5 points on the season. Larkin leading the way with 5-6-11 through 6 games.

They are really nice. So many nods to older uniforms.

Got absolutely killed by the Isles, turn a 4-0 deficit into a 6-4 win against the Blues, then hang another 4 the Blues' giant baby in a 5-2 win.

7-3 to start the season.

Iyer declares Seider-Edvinsson the best defensive pairing in hockey.

Yzerman must be feeling pretty good, he finally found another good player to put next to his best defender, and Jake Walman is currently spiraling in Edmonton after signing a huge extension.

Reading the Red Wings are making a hard push to acquire Rasmus Andersson. He’d be a good fit.

Larkin and Copp out for at least two weeks.

https://www.nhl.com/news/dylan-larkin-o ... ith-injury

Newly reacquired forward David Perron also out.

Detroit is currently in the first Wild Card spot and three points behind Montreal for that #3 spot in the Atlantic.

That's the thing about the Eastern Conference. Everything's so bunched up it's easy to move up, but it's just as easy to move down...or out.

Boy, good thing Yzerman didn't do THIS in hindsight.

Larkin hurt, the Wings go on a big slide. Two seasons ago all over again. Comfortably in a playoff spot, Larkin hurt, then 7 game losing streak.

Pick up a massive two points against the Flames. Boston and CBJ keep pace, unfortunately.
