No incentive for the Flames to retain salary. He can join the "hurt" pile with Huberdeau if he doesn't want to play for the Flames anymore. He's not even the biggest asset IMO. Blake Coleman, Ryan Lomberg...those are guys I would want to value add on a cup run.

Can't figure out why any Maple Leaf would want this guy back. Colorado maybe wants to relive glory days.....

There seems to be a lot of pending dumping going on before March 6th.......we'll see what Craig gets up to.

Weegar packs his bags for Utah. The good thing about being this bad is that dudes are willing to waive their NTCs.

https://puckpedia.com/trade/1082

That's a hell of a haul for Mackenzie Weegar.

That's 2 firsts 4 2nds 3 3rds in this years draft!

Good job Craig! It isn't easy digging out from the hole Tre put this club in (leafs problem currently). Now the scouting staff just needs to do their job.

Now I don't to start a fuss but I would highly suggest/recommend the Flames steer clear of USA born players in the upcoming draft. There seems to be an extremely wide gap in parity both socially and economically between the 2 countries at present.

As i have been discussing with the Leaf boys.....there is also something to be said about having former players in your front office.

Calgary might have to come off of this retain salary stance they are taking with Kadri if they really want to get rid of him. I personally don't want him around pouting in the locker room and sandbagging on the ice for the next 3 years because he wanted to be traded. Its not good for the young talent. But he also has a 13 team list....so hopefully they meet somewhere in the middle.

Reports indicate that is why the Colorado trade did not happen.

I can't imagine he would ever just start coasting, he's got too much pride for that.

THAT SAID, those fucking cheapskates can eat shit for eternity. If they had just retained maybe 25% it would've gotten the deal done. They refused. Any failures going forward are on them and only them. Conroy did what he could.

The guy has gone public saying he wants out.......there will certainly be pouting.

I wonder how this goes if he doesn't get traded.......I bet you he magically is hurt for the rest of the year!

Craig...pay the money!

Allright, well maybe Craig says give us the rest of the year and we'll find you a home in the offseason.

Kadri off to Colorado....I thought it might be MTL but I am sure Kadri wanted to go here most of all.

Kadri 20% Retention and a 4th in 2027

Flames get a small haul Oloffson, Max Curran, 1st rd pick in 2027 and 2nd round pick in 2028 (conditionals)

Good Job Craig! Way to be flexible on that retention!

Tidy return for Calgary. A 1st and a conditional 2nd is nothing to sneeze at, and the retention clearly helped get the job done.

As a Canucks fan I’ll admit — with both teams rebuilding, these are the kinds of moves that move the needle long term. I’d prefer Calgary not doing smart rebuild things… but credit where it’s due.

Looks like Matta (2nd Pair) and Strome (2C) will be in tonight....so a reason to watch the Canes/Flames. Coleman, Backlund, Coronato top line!? Making Dustin earn that money!

Yikes this team is AHL caliber on the ice right now......even the Young Guns roster had Stillman, Bure, Iginla, DMo, Regehr, Housley!

That was back when JSGiguere was the next thing but was cast aside for a 2nd.....and then went on to be the next thing for the Ducks!

Lets hope we are not repeating those days where the staff was drafting the likes of Oleg Saprykin and Rico Fata in the first round!

Normally I just skim these articles but this one I would agree with

https://thehockeywriters.com/flames-zay ... l-failure/

Parekh needs more time at the AHL level.

Man, it wasn't until someone on HF mentioned him that I remembered Victor Olofsson was on the Avs. I had COMPLETELY forgotten about him, that's how bad he was for basically the entire middle of the season up until the deadline. How's he doing in Calgary?

Yikes.....first time this season the Flames see the Avalanche...and a 9-2 drubbing is a result.....25 shots in the 1st period from the Avs chasing the Wolf. Kadri gets 2 on the Flames.

Flames brought back down to earth....and should stop winning for the rest of the year!

Meanwhile the Avalanche broadcast team amused themselves with Ryker in the truck....definitely more entertaining than this one!

I guess you could look at it as the kids are seeing a lot of time in Calgary....but eghad was Parekh terrible last night......he doesn't look like he belongs at this level yet.

Flames are officially on the ropes tonight against Dallas. With a win could give the AVs the Z though.

There really is nothing of note to discuss going into the offseason beyond the new Barn and the draft. Flames have lots of cap space and can do whatever they want.

Flames are officially eliminated after a loss in Dallas. They hung around in this one until OT and looked pretty good. Parekh had a goal and a significant 18:50 on the ice after a Bahl exit. Maata had 30 and Whitecloud was at 29. Earning their money!
