The double retention rule has definitely slowed the trade roll. But the rising cap matters too. With more money in the system, fewer teams are forced into cap dumps, so trades shift toward roster fit instead of cap gymnastics. The irony is player movement drives league buzz — and the NHL doesn't value that.Pokecheque wrote: Fri Mar 06, 2026 1:26 pm Yeah, the whole "Playoff salary cap" thing has really tamped down on the chaos. If you could still LTIR your way past the cap AND do double retention I bet we would've seen a ton more movement.
