Arthur Kaliyev investigated

OF COURSE he’s in the Ottawa Senators system when this shit comes out.

This is wild and I can’t believe it isn’t more widespread. The 32 Thoughts pod covered it but they didn’t get into the details.

So in short, when Kaliyev was playing for the Kings he was amassing huge gambling debts incurred to his teammates (including Drew Doughty) and his girlfriend at the time, and OnlyFans model. He got access to her PayPal account and started using that as well, but said he would pay her back with checks from his “family business.” Naturally, those checks bounced and left her account thousands of dollars in the negative when the two of them were out of the country. She posted a massive thread on TikTok which blew this wide open and apparently she’s pressing charges.

Wow. What a moron. And to add insult to injury, this comes out on the heels of the gambling scandal that’s currently rocking the NBA.

Who would think that the leagues sponsored by and promoting gambling companies would have players gambling??? It's truly shocking. I mean, wowwy wow wow.

You can't go a commercial break without seeing an ad for DraftKings or FanDuel. IIRC, one of the teams had them as the ad on their jerseys or helmet. Definitely on the boards.

Side note, I didn't know players "tipped" the trainers at the end of the year. They certainly deserve it, and it appears Rob Blake got real pissed when Kaliyev didn't pay up and basically told his agent that he was going to hold him in limbo and wouldn't let him play until he did.

I've heard that before and it makes sense. Dudes are busting their asses all year keeping the players on the ice. They work crazy hours.
