Wild Payday for Kaprizov

I really don't know what to say about this. The kid is good but not league payscale altering good. Good luck with that Minnesota!

Donald Trump needs to step in here! This guy isn't a citizen taking all of our money! Tax him 50% and a luxury tax for playing in this country! Luxury Tariff!

I thought he might get $14 million, man I'm always way under. Good thing I'm not an agent or they'd all be leaving money on the table.

Draisaitl, McDavid, Hughes, Makar, Mathews, MacKinnon are all better than Kaprizov. He has the potential to be in that elite group, but he's not there yet.

Oh man, now I can't imagine what Hughes is going to get next year, at least the same. McDavid gets $19-$20 mil annually...............if EP40 returns to form, his $11.8 million will look like a steal.

That's what I thought too! Made the Dustin Wolf extension look like mad genius!

I try to think about this contract rationally and I can't....it just seems stupid.

Hasnt this guy only played 1 full season? I thought Billy G was smarter than this. isnt the point of the cap going up was to encourage more spend on rosters not a roster player. The Wild not only screwed themselves for 8 years but also set a ridiculous precedent for the rest of the league.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Wild have no shot without him, but it’s a heavy price to pay.

It’s all about putting butts in the seats. Minnesota oddly enough is just not a really strong NHL market despite having a gigantic following for high school and college puck. They lose Kaprizov gate revenues will plummet.

On one hand I don’t blame them. On the other hand they did this with Parise and Suter before and we saw how that played out.

Does this contract have to be approved by the NHL BOG? Luongo's contract in 2010 had to be. Will Bettman say something? Probably not since Craig Leipold, who married Proctor and Gamble money is one very special boy in Bettman's inner circle because he supported everyone of Bettman's lockouts while an NHL owner. Doesn't matter if he sold Nashville to Balsillie, he turned around and sold to locals for $40 mil less while badmouthing Balsillie on the way out and the NHL suddenly parachutes Leipold into a soft landing in a better market in Minnesota. Chuck Fletcher was Wild GM when Parise and Suter's 13 year $98 mil contracts were signed just before the 2012 lockout, not Guerin. Leipold is the common denominator here with these insane contracts but just like Jeremy Jacobs and the Bruins in 1997 circumventing the rookie salary cap with Samsonov and Thorton, he will not pay any price. All owners are equal in the Bettman Hockey League but some owners are more equal than others at times. Judging by Tom's observation, it looks as if Minnesota is less than Wild about Craig.

Good thing they have a salary cap in place to protect GMs from themselves... Oh. Never mind.
Posting your political views on social media is like sticking your head up your ass & whispering: You're just as likely to change someone's mind, and you'll always come out looking like a shithead.

It's within the max length and value set out by the CBA so unless it violates something else, it would meet the requirements of the CBAl. Unless there's some separate approval process.
Thanks Chuck, E.L. and Harmy!
