As Erik essentially said on Twixter, Chevy's just digging his own grave. Alienate and drive outta town Perfetti, Ehlers, and McGroarty, and throw everything behind aging and overpaid stars like Scheifele...yeah, that'll work.

I'm rooting for the Jets in the Jonathan Toews comeback sweepstakes. He's from there, knows Chevy, and is exactly what they need: an experienced centre. Perfect fit.
Sounds like they'll lock up Connor to go along with Scheifele and Hellebuyck, and possibly Vilardi too, who's been a great addition.
I have no animus towards the Jets, even after the whole Scheifele-Evans thing.

Wasn't Toews implicated in the Kyle Beach situation? Like he knew about it and did nothing? Supposedly players openly mocked Beach. As captain he could have at least told the players to cut the shit. That's the very least he could have done.

If Nick Boynton and Brent Sopel are to be believed, then yeah, he and the rest of the Hawks players knew. I have judged pretty much all the players on that roster whether they're Toews, Kane (plenty of other shit to judge HIM on), Keith, and others ever since. Mr. New Age Joe Don Looney can go get fucked as far as I'm concerned, though I am curious to see if he even has it anymore. He played years ago and wasn't even close to being an impact player at the time.Chris18 wrote: Mon Jun 09, 2025 9:53 am Wasn't Toews implicated in the Kyle Beach situation? Sorry, but fuck that guy. He knew about the Kyle Beach situation and did nothing while other players made jokes about it. A Captain has responsibilities beyond the play. That type of situation is part of that.

Re: Official THE JETS SUCK Thread
Maybe it was just him on a bad day but I remember him skating up to the refs and bitching at them after practically EVERY SINGLE WHISTLE during an Avs/Hawks game back in the day. Really soured my perception of him well before the whole Aldrich situation blew up. Nazem Kadri has a rep for yelling at refs (and as a result rarely gets the benefit of the doubt with them).
Whatever, it's a win for an organization absolutely desperate to get butts in the seats, now they have a native son in uniform.
I know one way they could drum up interest/fanfare in one fell swoop--ditch those lame-ass uniforms and go back to the Hawerchuk-era classics. Surely a young Jonathan Toews had one of those in his closet back in the day.

Damn, went to this thread and it started me at page one, one of the posts was "Burmistrov wants out" by me. Totally forgot that name. He was pretty good, wasn't he?
Anyway, bad news for the Jets, who are 12-7-0 and sport the fourth-highest goal differential in the league (really? Chicago is third!? Wow), Connor Hellebuyck out 4-6 weeks after getting his knee scoped.

Team USA is losing bodies by the day.

Adam Lowry locked up at 5x5M AAV.
The aging core is pretty locked in, for better or for worse.

Yeah, Jets not looking great without Helly, which is understandable.

Re: Official THE JETS SUCK Thread
Well, last night had to be rock bottom.
https://www.nhl.com/news/winnipeg-jets- ... ary-1-2026
Carrying a 4-1 lead through a good chunk of the 2nd, Leafs power back to make it 4-3 right before the period ends, eventually losing 6-5. And Comrie, who was having a pretty rough night, badly misplayed a loose puck to serve up the game-winner for Matthews (his third of the game, there's a term for such an accomplishment that escapes me).
I don't recall the last time a reigning President's Trophy winner was dead last in the league halfway through the season. Winnipeg's notoriously conservative approach appears to be finally biting them in the arse.

Re: Official THE JETS SUCK Thread
Not replacing Ehlers the final straw. He’s not exactly lighting it up in Carolina, but Winnipeg never appreciated what they had in him.
