Official Jake Oettinger HYPE thread

Post by E.L. »

This guy's good. Only a handful of goalies taken in the first round in the last 12 or so years, Oettinger was one of them. Dallas' future is looking bright with him in goal, even if there are other issues.

Dude singlehandedly kept one of the worst coaches in the league gainfully employed. More power to him.

DeBoer threw his goalie under the bus for absolutely no reason. Pulled him in the elimination game after allowing two goals on two shots and then trashed him in the post-game. He also said the Oilers were more active last offseason than the Stars, which is crazy shade towards Nill.

DeBoer has a winning pedigree, but how do you get beyond that? I'd can him.

I think DeBoer isn't liking living in Dallas too much. Throwing one or the other under the bus is bad enough (GM obviously worse than the goalie, which still isn't good), but both? He wants out.

Little bit off his rocker here. I like Deboer but.....he pretty much had a perfect team to work with this year and in the post season. There will be changes in Dallas for next year...of note Deboer is at the end of a 4 year deal signed in 2022. Can't complain about Oettinger or management after getting Raantanen long term. I would be disappointed too after being handled by Edmonton but this isn't the way to do it.

Stars fan up the road still hasn't taken his damn flag down yet.

Holy shit, I knew DeBoer would eventually throw his goalie under the bus, but he did so this postseason in the most dramatic and spectacular way possible, then backed over him several times in the postgame. Sean Shapiro had an article that blasts DeBoer not for pulling him, not for the nasty remarks afterward, but for not even bothering to talk to him prior to taking the podium.

Reports surfacing, don't know how valid they are, that players are not happy with the coach after those theatrics. Whether this results in a change (DeBoer has one year remaining on his current deal) remains to be seen.

Deboer really is a piece of shit. He needs to take some serious to reflect. Players pushed him out. Good thing he has year to get paid to not coach.

Someone will get shitcanned during the season and he will get another shot, where the cycle can begin anew.

Odds-on favorite to replace DeBoer according to podcasts aplenty is Neil Graham, currently the head coach of the Texas Stars, who, like their parent club, fell just short of the Final.
