Not MLB, but check that logo. Very educational for "alpha males".

Well now, sadly, nobody will be finding the pearl. But at least they admitted it was an oversight and are donating proceeds to a cervical cancer research center.Pokecheque wrote:They have no chance of finding that pearl.Chris18 wrote:Not MLB, but check that logo. Very educational for "alpha males".

Rox might really, truly be the worst team in baseball this season. Even the blatantly tanking White Sox can’t match their suck. What’s sad is that the Rockies are NOT really tanking.
The rest of the NL West looks rather dangerous.

Rockies currently at 9-50 on the season, setting all kinds of modern baseball records for futility.
The saddest part is, even when the Colorado Avalanche became the worst NHL team of the modern era in 2016-17 (48 points, only eclipsed by the San Jose Sharks with 47 points last year) is that there will be no reward for tanking this unbelievably. Because they've been so awful the previous two seasons, the rules stipulate they won't be allowed to pick higher than 10th.
They've won TWO GAMES since sacking their manager Bud Black. Lost 17.
The record for worst Major League season of all time was set by the Cleveland Spiders at 20-134 in 1899. There is literally nothing left to root for but this.

Buster Posey is a three-time champ and a future Hall of Famer, and so far he’s bringing that bulldog mentality to the front office.
Signed Willy Adames to a big money deal, now he’s swung a stunning trade with Boston for Devers where he didn’t give up much.
Buster said he’s in the memory making business, and he’s willing to stick his neck out to build a winner. I love it.

Mets new pitcher, Richard Lovelady, insists on going by Dicky. So he's Dicky Lovelady. Dicky Lovelady. Yep.

I couldn't care less about baseball anymore, but I saw that the Texas Rangers are the only team to not have a Pride night, so the Orioles had their Pride night against the Rangers for the 2nd year in a row. Well played Orioles, well played.

Fun regular season with some new teams in the postseason mix. But I’m bummed about the robot umps calling balls and strikes next season. Feels like a move to appease the gamblers who demand constant perfection from our officials. It’s not always perfect, but I like expanding and collapsing strike zones, or calling games differently depending on who’s on the mound. And catchers who frame well.

Re: MLB FOREVER Thread
I'm on the other side. Can't stand seeing arbitrary garbage calls and umps using the catcher/setup and not the strike zone to call strikes. I'm fine with the challenge system.E.L. wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 2:13 pm Fun regular season with some new teams in the postseason mix. I agree it has been a fun season. AI is better than humans anyway so I welcome any move to take out bias or proclivity in a clear cut situation like this (as long at it stays that way).
But I do see what you are saying...the uniqueness of the situation has always been a part of baseball and that will change in favor of standardization.
Go Sox!

Re: MLB FOREVER Thread
Buster Posey did not mess around his first season running SF:
1. Signed Willy Adames to the biggest deal in team history
2. Traded for Rafael Devers in a blockbuster
3. Massive bullpen selloff at deadline
4. Fired manager Bob Melvin three months after picking up his option
He’s being aggressive, but he’s not wrong in his assessments so far. But the team had no depth this year and paid the price.
Adames, Devers, Chapman, Lee all played well so I think they have a chance to contend in 2026 with a couple of pitching acquisitions and someone to shore up outfield defence.

Don't really care about baseball anymore, but glad that the Mets missed the playoffs because I hate someone whose entire family are Mets fans, and they were total dicks about the Mets signing Soto away from the Yankees. So - haha!
But since the Yankees are also dicks these days, despite having been a lifelong fan, I laughed like hell last night when I saw they were down by 2, and had bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th with nobody out- and didn't score a single run. First time that's ever happened in playoff history. Losers!
Karma, bitches.

And so, the Yankees win their series vs Boston by taking Games 2 & 3. Jerks.

Re: MLB FOREVER Thread
I'm surprised, I've ignored baseball for 20 years, since the Expos left...........although the disillusion with the sport began before that.
I wasn't aware that the Astro's were in the American league, or the Brewers were in the National League until a couple years ago. (they made me realize how much I miss newspapers and the sports pages, even if I didn't follow baseball much, I would have read about it in the paper once upon a time.)
And how many rules have changed, extra innings starting a player on 2nd, umpire challenges, relief pitchers have to face minimum of 3 batters (I really like that rule)
This remarkable season for the Blue Jays has drawn me back in. I started watching in September for the pennant run.
Shohei Ohtani is G.O.A.T............he makes all-star future hall of famers look like they should be in a lower league from him. I'm old enough to remember the 70's and discussion on why Sadarhu Oh who broke Hank Arron's home record could not play MLB. It was assumed that Japanese ball players were too weak and small to play in the majors. It took until 2001 for Ichiro to send baseball organizations all scrambling through the Japanese league trying to find more players. Just straight up racist shit kept them out.
And the Jays, are amazing. Such a complete team, yes they have stars, but no flashy big home run club, or Cy Young canidadates shutting the opposition hitters down. Great defense, run the bases well, and just grinding out wins.
2-2 vs the heavily favoured Dodgers. Could be 3-1 if not for the missed ball call on Varsho that led to Bichette being picked off and missing out on a sure run. Still that 18 inning game had so much tension and drama, what great game.
The series just seems like Jays vs Ohtani............I mean the Dodgers are a really, really good team, but this series would be a cakewalk for the Jays if not for Ohtani

That 18-inning game was crazy. I went to bed after Little closed out the 17th, shortly before 3am. Kind of glad that I did. The Jays hitting lineup was just so empty that it was hard to see them winning as the game continued.
Throughout the game, Freddie Freeman was feeling like this guy(not good for the Jays, though):
Vladdy cementing his legacy in Toronto before his extension even starts.

Re: MLB FOREVER Thread
I stayed up to the end of the 18 innings but a lot easier to do on the west coast. I wanted to see a record 19 innings.
Yes that lineup by the end didn't have enough to get it done, I understand why he pulled Kirk (round mound of taking it downtown) and Bichette (injury), neither run well but I questioned pulling Barger out for a pinch runner, he's not that slow and felt they may need him later. But I also get that they were going for it every little chance they got, and not saving for later.

Re: MLB FOREVER Thread
Kirk also got hurt on something so I have no issues getting him out of there rather than risking anything further for the rest of the series. Barger is the one that I would question.Fogghorn wrote: Wed Oct 29, 2025 1:35 pm I stayed up to the end of the 18 innings but a lot easier to do on the west coast. Yesavage...man. Back to Toronto for game 6. I can't believe that they're one win away.

As a Rockies fan who was raised by a Giants (when they were still in New York) fan, I am 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% down with the Dodgers losing.
