What's really unfortunate is that if there's a coverup going on, it's not the first one Bill Guerin has been involved in as an executive.
I was going to ask if O'Hearn came over from Pittsburgh with Guerin and this was related to conduct in that coverup.

I keep wondering, are we just finding out about more of this type of stuff as technology enables people to bust these guys, or is more shit like this happening these days?

I think the shit was always there, but technology as you say, and a culture that is less tolerant of it are uncovering it.

Ryan Hartman gets three games for tossing his stick at the refs and, according to DOPS, verbally abusing officials.

It does look like he has reason to be upset given the blatant high stick call that was missed (still can't huck your stick at them though). But do I have an ounce of sympathy for the guy? No.

Brock Faber gets 8/8.5M after his rookie year. Already unquestionably their best defenceman.

Guerin continues to be the gutsiest GM in hockey: trades some picks for Jiricek.

Man, that was a whole lotta quantity for (potential) quality. I have to admire Guerin for not letting $15 million in dead cap act as an excuse.

Kaprizov, after returning for a few games, will be out for roughly four weeks following surgery for a lingering issue. Guerin was quick to point out it isn't season-ending.

The good news for the Wylde is that the season is going to be paused for the Four Nothings Tournament, so that'll shorten the number of games missed by a decent margin.

Ovi & the Caps shaking Fleury's hand after their game is pretty awesome.

Sounds like Guerin has no interest in giving Rossi an extension, which would likely come in at 7x7 minimum.

He’s good, scrappy in front. He’s also small. Very small.

With Kaprizov likely needing a 14-15M extension soon, Guerin doesn’t want to get locked in with anyone he’s not totally feeling. Fair enough.

To summarize, the Wylde were giddy going into this offseason (Leipold especially) since they could now spend freely now that the giant double-headed dead cap hit of Suter/Parise was finally off the books. But now things have changed.

I guess Plan A was to give Warroad native Brock Nelson whatever he wanted, but then he signed back in Colorado, so now they're scrambling a bit. Now they're finding the free agent market doesn't look all that promising, and if they do indeed move on from Rossi, they'll have to likely get a center in return.

I read somewhere there's some tension between Hynes (whom I'm still not convinced is all that good a coach but I'll admit he got them to wildly overachieve this year) and Rossi, and that's fueling the speculation that the latter may leave.
