That was a weird year end conference. Arguably tampering by saying Hughes wants to play with his brothers, but that in theory could be in Vancouver?

Let's see if I can get this right. They wouldn't trade Suter for a 2nd and Boeser for a first because they thought they could catch a wild card spot. They are not taking up Tocchet's option year. Their hopes of keeping Hughes is to trade for his brothers??????????(and that 1st and 2nd would be pretty helpful for that goal, don't you think) and Willander is not signed and heading back to school as the offer was not good enough, similar to Tocchet..................is Pat Gillis available?

I just really looked at the thread title I gave this season, looking at it now it was like I was almost friggin prescient.

I felt like that was more Rutherford covering his ass in anticipation of a possible Hughes departure. He TRIED to frame it like they could all end up in Vancouver, but he knows as well as anyone that ain't happening.

I didn't actually hear Tocchet's comments on Miller and Petey until after I listened to the 32 Thoughts pod, but those comments were interesting nonetheless. Basically said Petey has to be in better physical condition and they tried to patch things up between the two centers, and it just didn't work out. One thing I'll give Toc credit for, he's always honest.

EDIT: Tocchet is officially out.

Quinn Hughes Anxiety has got to be a very real mental health issue now.

Can anyone recall a time a coach has turned down a contract offer to not renew with a team?

I can't and obviously Rutherfords excuse about being closer to home is just that if he's interested in other west coast jobs. Wonder when we'll hear the real reason? I've heard it was probably the whole meddling ownership thing. I'd be happy with either of Malhorta or Foote who are rumoured to be the 2 it's down to. Gonna be a hell of an offseason

Foote is named HC (right call, imo, Manny needs to finish strong in AHL even at the risk of losing him; Footer built this d for the most part).

Willander signed. Less likely to be pawned off now.

Not sure how I feel about the Foote signing. I mean, he doesn't really have any professional head coaching experience. And no, I am not counting the debacle with the Kelowna Rockets.
