2021 Offseason

Post by harmfuljays »

Mark Giordano gets picked up by the Kraken. Although I was on board with not protecting him from the beginning its still pretty dirty to expose your long term Captain like that. Nothing says thanks for coming more than being unprotected in an Expansion draft! :a2m:

Anyway....I suppose that shrewd move paves the way for a reboot and transfer of C power over to Tkachuk...there is no point giving it to someone else (no not Milan either). :effort:

Other than that Brett Ritchie was resigned............ :hrm:

And A russian guy went back to russia (Nesterov). :jerkbag:

and the most shocking news of all is that Treliving still has a job! How in the world he is still hanging around to get another shot at a build is beyond me. :suprisedtored:

Lucky number 13 on Friday night!

I expect this team to be busy shortly. :munch:

Serious question -- what is Calgary doing? (Or to be more precise, why are they not doing stuff?) You heard they wanted to "shake things up" and we're at UFA day and all they've done so far is... lose Mark Giordano for nothing, and then trade for Tyler Pitlick and Nikita Zadorov?

Apparently they are pursuing a D man? But that D Man was Zadarov? He must have really gotten in their heads a few years ago.

This f'n team is lost...might as well put together a package with Johnny and try to pry Brady from the Sens.

Hell might as well go sign the other Ritchie as well since we seem to be putting together a Sutter team

Seems like they are in on Blake Coleman as well............ Whatever.....looks like the truculence train is back in town....not going to work with this core bunch.

Flames shore up depth on defence, bringing back Michael Stone and signing Erik Gudbranson.

Don't forget Conor Mackey and Brad Richardson!...yes that's Richardson NOT Richards. Richardson is a Sutter boy go figure.

Richardson is still an effective 4C when healthy. Decent move.

I don't think they were as bad as they showed last year and they should get a nice dead cat bounce with Sutter. Just gotta figure out what happened to Monahan.

Brad Richardson is the only Avalanche player whose signature I own. Back then he was an up-and-comer whose season got derailed by wrist injuries. If he had just been a little luckier in the health department he'd have been much more than a really good 4th line guy.

Yep...this about sums it up.
So....This Is What They Have To Work With?

The Flames offseason was less than stellar. Are they a better team as the 2021-22 season approaches?

And the flames picked right back up where they left off......Announcers last night weren't giving them any quarter. Its going to be a LONG season if that's the way the play.

Doesn't matter how many talkings DS gives. But I don't put much stock into the 1st Preseason game.

No big guns were playing and there wasn't any player or young-one of note that I saw. Vladar was serviceable and Pitlick got hurt immediately. The Flames tried to play DS hockey only to find out DS hockey sends you to the box nowadays! :fry:

Wasn't many people in the crowd and the Flames are being criticized for allowing full capacity even though half showed.

They play the Canucks tonight in their 2nd Preseason game. The Canucks are mired in the Perderson/Quinn signing dance

Well that game against the Kraken was better. Kylington....although praised in some circles he seemed to be a bit off with his passing and shot choices but you can work on that. Can't fix Stone or Zadorov. Vladar should be a capable backup.

I did like some of the line differences.....Coleman, Tchckcahccuk, Lindholm....Johnny riding with Backlund and Mangepunani.

And Its been very entertaining so far watching Pre-season Kraken TV.

And of course who scores the first goal? Gio!
