Holy crap, we have not had a Nucks post since Nov 30? Anyways camp is here and Hamonic signs to a PTO. That's a good start to the New Year.

Hamonic? Heard rumors but if that's so, I'm all for it. I hope he does well and at least makes it on the taxi squad.

Sounds more like Ferland will be on LTIR so that will give them some cap space to sign someone like Hamonic.

OJ should get a good look.

Off the ice, yes. On the ice he's a dick.

Daniel Wagner make an interesting argument for why Pettersson is the best player in the Canadian division.

Canucks and Blues are going to share Utica as a farm team. I'm unsure about this as being the best way to develop players but I guess with the extra players they'll be carrying on the main team there will be a shortage of players for the farm.

Ah, Utica. Lovely Utica... I still can't get the smell out of my backpack and it's been 3.5 years.

When I was there one of the big attractions was the "Dumpster Dog" at Nicky Doodles. I wish I was making any of that up. It would be amusing fiction. Instead it's terrifying non-fiction.

With the huge push by other NHL teams to get a more regional AHL affiliate, I find it kinda strange that the Canucks are one of the few organizations that chooses to affiliate with a team all the way over on the other side of the continent. You'd think Aquilini would want to cut down on long plane rides and what not.

Nothing but raves for Hoglander out of camp. Seems a sure thing to make the team. A few videos of him in this piece but my fav is the very last one watching him strip the puck from that other Swede Pettersson.

Wow. How nice would it be to see Hogs line up on the 2nd unit with Horvat and Pearson? Interesting because it was JV18 that he dangled on that first clip.

Can't wait to see this new look Canucks team next week!

J.T. Miller - Elias Pettersson - Brock Boeser
Tanner Pearson - Bo Horvat - Nils Höglander
Antoine Roussel - Adam Gaudette - Jake Virtanen
Tyler Motte - Jay Beagle - Brandon Sutter
Extra: Loui Eriksson - Zack MacEwen

Alex Edler - Nate Schmidt
Quinn Hughes - Travis Hamonic
Olli Juolevi - Tyler Myers
Jordie Benn

Braden Holtby
Thatcher Demko

- a lot of money in that 4th line. Too bad Motte is going to have to carry Sutter and Beagle.
- I like the 3rd line.
- I really like the looks of the D, a lot of money for Meyers in the 3rd pairing but the right place for him.

That 4th line could be more expensive if Loui made the cut; the taxi squad is the right place for him though.

I kinda feel bad for Jordie Benn after two years with the club but he's probably in the right spot at 7 and Hamonic on a PTO is in the Top 4 instead; I think the drop in talent from Tanev to Hamonic isn't nearly as precipitous as Tanev to Benn. I'm eager to see if Hamonic+Schmidt+OJ makes them better than Tanev+Stecher+Fantenburg; I'm inclined to think so too.

I'm also eager to see which of Holtby or Demko gets the call on opening night.

Does anyone else think that losing Malhotra to the Leafs is going to affect their FO%?

My understanding is that due to COVID-19 concerns, D Jordie Benn and F JT Miller will not be with the #Canucks for a couple of weeks. Both players are quarantining. Miller had been staying at Benn's Vancouver residence. Matt Sekeres

Translation? They have COVID.

Off, up and away go.....this version of the the NHL season is definitely going to have some strange tricks and turns, the cream not necessarily representative of rising to the top.

Agreed, health luck and depth are going to play a huge role.

Such an oddly-constructed team. It feels like there are either really fantastic players (Pettersson, Hughes, Miller) or there are truly horrible players (Sutter, Myers). There’s no in-between.

Three losses in a row, and predictably, fans are breaking out the knives...for Pettersson.
