That's possibly part of the thought process. The rest is probably that most teams are cap strapped this year. They had the most available. He can be a rental at the deadline and bring the Sabres some nice returns, so fans will appreciate him.

Well apparently the WTF was loud enough for Hall to respond. And it was 8 Million dollars for 1 year....so if it doesn't work out...oh well I guess. I wouldn't be buying a jersey!

Sam Reinhart gets a one-year, 5.2M bridge deal. Doesn't bode well for teams looking to lock important guys up long term at a discount. Young players can ride out the flat cap and cash in later.

Krueger's doing rushes with Skinner on the 4th line and Tage Thompson on the top unit.

Is the new regime going to be handcuffed the whole time by Botterill's folly of giving Skinner 9M?

Girgensons got hurt and is out a while.

They've been crippled for a while by Botterill's folly of giving Selke/Conn Smythe/Stanley Cup winner Ryan O'Reilly away for almost literally nothing, so the Skinner contract is nothing compared to that.

Other huge factors working against them: Mittelstadt is looking more and more like a bust, Jokiharju might be a decent defender but still doesn't make up for the fact that Alex Nylander was a bad pick, and Dahlin is still young, but there are already some reservations about his development. They better hope like hell Cozens and Quinn are stars.

It's all happening again.

Yeah, I think in order for the Sabres to move forward it may require a complete housecleaning. And that includes Pegula and Pegula. They just gotta start over, this is clearly not working. Blow it up. Blow it all up.

Buffalo doesn't have scouts in place in the WHL, Finland and Russia right now? Oh brother...

They should seriously have scouts in peewee leagues right now, because they're going to have high picks for years to come at this rate.

I really thought Pegula would be a huge upgrade to the comical days of Golisano, Quinn, and the Buffaslug, but I was way wrong. Turns out Pegula is as incompetent as they come and now that his interests have been hit rather hard by the pandemic, has turned into a total miser to boot.

Mike Harrington lets loose with both barrels.

Ugh. Watching Rasmus Dahlin get repeatedly clowned last night was just painful to watch. It's impossible to tell who on this team is truly bad and who has just merely given up.

The Sabres have struck out with three straight rookie GMs, all of whom seemingly worked a little too closely with ownership. Not a fan of retreads, but it'll take a Lou Lams-type to come in here and reorganize.

Rutherford might want to come back after COVID. George McPhee? Babcock?

Y'know what's really alarming? Pegula and Pegula have been cutting corners everywhere they can during this pandemic. I think it was Friedman who said the Sabres have no scouts in Russia, Finland, and have none employed to scout the WHL. How the fuck you supposed to rebuild without being able to find talent to draft!!???

That said, I seriously doubt Rutherford wants anything to do with that bankrupt organization. Anyone with a modicum of sense would do well to stay the hell away. I don't think this gets solved until there's an ownership change.

16 straight losses. Guys must be hoping they get traded by now, right?

Taylor Hall has a no move and said he'd waive it. Who wouldn't want a champion like him on their team for the stretch drive? :chairshot:

Isles fans are screaming from rooftops for Lou to get him.

Long Island is as good a landing spot as any for Hall. Doesn't need to be the man, can come into a strong culture and coach who has worked with mercurial stars.

Hall is no saviour and his NJ season was an outlier, but he's still a top offensive guy.

The Arizona thing was worrisome though. A real chance to prove his worth as a rental and was just kinda ok.

Eichel done for the year with a herniated disc in his neck. Because they really needed to be knocked down a peg from the tear they've been on.

Jason Karmanos brought aboard to clean up the mess.
