Hopefully this team will finally get the rebuild it needs. Off goes Zucker to Pittsburgh for Addison and a 1st. Maybe they can flip Galchenyuk again, because they only got him to offset the salaries.

Parise, Suter, Spurgeon and Zuccarello all have NMC's, so maybe they get moved in the offseason.

Otherwise, they could find takers for Staal, Foligno, Pateryn, Hartman, Dumba.

Spurgeon just signed a massive extension--he's not going anywhere. Parise and Suter are stuck, ain't no one taking those bloated contracts. Doubt that Zuccarello goes anywhere either.

I could see Foligno, Pateryn, or even Dumba moving though.

If they could just somehow convince Kaprizov to head on over, they might be onto something. That's the superstar they need.

Too lazy to look for the links, but some good news for Minny fans.

Judd Brackett, recently of the Canucks, gets brought in to head up drafting/development for the Wylde. That's a huge get for them, since saying that first draft under Fenton went poorly would be an understatement.

Also, after years of what-ifs, the Wylde FINALLY succeeded in bringing top prospect Kirill Kaprizov into the fold on a 2-year ELC. He isn't eligible to play this season but I thought I read that his contract gets burned anyway, which, if true, means he only plays one NHL season before he's up for a new deal.

Same as Sorokin- yes, this year gets burned with no eligibility to play games. Weird rule.

Mikko Koivu will reportedly not return next season after playing 15 straight in Minny.

Not sure he wants to play elsewhere or return to Finland. Noticeably slowed down after aging gracefully the last few seasons, enough that he may not get a guaranteed deal.

He was still playing at an elite defensive level this last season, it's just the offense that's completely dried up. He'd be a good short-term signing for a team that wanted a 4th line center who could play a shutdown role and win key faceoffs...but he's also intimated that he doesn't want to play outside of Minnesota, so I'm guessing this is it for him. Probably go home to Finland and play out the string.

Wild get Nick Bjugstad from the Pens and get paid for the pleasure. The big galoot has had some serious injuries and will be looking to bounce back.

Also heard recently the Wild might have mandate to get Minnesota natives on their team. Not sure it's true.

It's official: Bye, Bye Mikko https://www.nhl.com/wild/news/bill-guer ... -319075678

Do you think the Wild will enter next season with Eriksson Ek, Johansson, Rask and Bjugstad up the middle? Probably not...

This seems like an odd way to go about it. Ya can't, like, do this more quietly?

Mikko is still a near-elite defensive forward. He should try catching on with another club next year and try to win a Cup. But something tells me he's done in the NHL.

The Wild make, in my opinion, a very bad trade, acquiring a season of Nick Bonino for Luke Kunin. Feels like revenge for the Fiala deal. Picks also going both ways.

Bonino is still very good. I guess they got tired of waiting around for Kunin to pan out.

I have to say that as weird as some of Guerin's moves have been they sure look like they absolutely nailed it in the draft. Probably a direct result of having Brackett on board, but they went with Marco Rossi, whom I am convinced will be a star. On top of excellent talent, he adopted a new fitness program that is drawing comparisons between him and Marty St. Louis. They also snagged Ryan O'Rourke and Marat Khusnutdinov in the next round.

A contender should've traded for Bonino. Not sure what a rebuilding Wild gets from one year of him before he walks.

This pertains to the Penguins, but has very serious potential ramifications for Bill Guerin.

https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-sp ... pittsburgh

Guerin is emphatically denying any part in a cover-up, but a couple things here are working against him. If indeed Donatelli was guilty of the alleged crimes and an internal investigation concluded he was, then why was he allowed to resign quietly "for personal reasons?" Also, I'm not sure if this is true or not but Skalde is alleging that he was targeted for firing and few if any other staffers were let go at the time. If true, the optics are really, really bad there.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/n ... 493827002/

If Guerin ends up having to resign as a result of this then that definitely throws the Wylde back into complete disarray.

Lastly, between this, past incidents coming to light in other hockey circles, and now the lawsuit against the CHL, the details of which are absolutely HORRIFYING, hockey culture should be fucking gutted with a rusty knife and left to die. This is fucking ridiculous, and there's no way that something like this hasn't happened before in my mind--other teams just did a better job of covering it up.

Kirill Kaprizov is awesome. Maybe they should get back into things and speed up the rebuild?

Marco Rossi sent home to Austria with complications from COVID. Just a teenager. Really worrisome.

It took them a good, long time, but the Minnesota Wylde finally, finally found their franchise superstar.

Kirill Kaprizov is the real deal, and right now the Calder is his to lose. No one else is even close.

Joel Eriksson Ek gets 8-year, $42M extension, $5.25M AAV.

Rumors are-a-brewin'. Fiala has followed up his very contentious contract negotiation with Minnesota with a disappointing start that's landed him in Evason's doghouse. And Fiala has not kept his displeasure to himself about it either.

The rumor I'm reading is Fiala and Dumba to Vancouver for J.T. Miller, which might actually benefit the Canucks.
