Phillies played against the Marlins and now they're getting positive test results back. It took one weekend for this to become a flaming bag of shit.

Glad they're moving around to all the different cities! Great approach.

I didn't see that Philly had positive tests! I saw that 10+ Marlins have now tested positive.

I think it was the Philly catchers too, which really speaks to how this virus travels in proximity.

Cards aren't playing, the Marlins needed an entirely new team and two Indians pitchers broke the rules and have to quarantine, and yet there are still games being played.

The Giants are as mediocre as expected, but I love watching Yastrzemski, Solano and Slater at the plate. They've all taken a step forward and they make tuning in worth it.

The NL West-leading Colorado Rockies lost back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Charlie Blackmon, who possesses the best look and best walk-up song in all of baseball, is leading the majors with a .484 average. He tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this season.

It's a shame that the Rox have big questions in their rotation and a bullpen that's overpriced and underachieving. Scott Oberg, who is the only reliever left that Colorado hasn't destroyed (Wade Davis) or sucked to begin with (Brian Shaw) had a recurrence of blood clots in his shoulder and is likely done for good.

Jays and Padres bought and bought at the deadline. Strange to see!

The Giants did squat, minus paying for live armed lefty Banda for cash. They're in the wild card race in this gonzo season, so why not roll with what you have?

Interesting point by Giants GM Scott Harris: it's hard to trade for prospects when you haven't seen any prospects play this year.

Last night was wild. For the first time since the 1920s, three Giants drove in 6 RBI apiece. Alex Dickerson almost had 4 homers, settled for 3 and 2 doubles. He's a hot and cold guy, but when he's on, he's good enough to carry a team. He did it last July and he's doing it now.

We knew the bullpen would be a huge issue because Jeff Bridich is a horrid GM whose acquisitions have continually underachieved, but last night was...what in the actual fuck.

The good news is that it doesn't matter if the score if 2-1 or 200-1, it still only counts as one loss. Somehow the Rox are still in the mix, but I wouldn't bet on them making it if my life depended on it.

Giants had two games postponed because of a false positive COVID test, then had another postponed due to poor air quality from the wildfires. 2020!

They never really cover what happens to the sports teams when the End Times come in movies--everything's just...gone. Only Interstellar kinda/sorta covered it. Something tells me "pauses" like this will eventually become the norm.

Giants eliminated in the final game, on the final pitch, a called strike a foot below the strike zone.

Despite all that, I can't complain. Yaz, Slater, Dickerson, Belt, Crawford, Dubon, Solano, Ruf, Flores were all a treat to watch at the plate. Gausman and Smyly were finds. Bart and Webb got some needed reps.

A bit like the Habs, the Giants didn't really come into pandemic play with much hope and ended up exceeding expectations.

I suppose I'll be rooting for one of the unlikely teams in the playoffs. Reds, maybe.

That Betts trade is going to go down as one of the most boneheaded moves ever. Hate the Dodgers, hate the Sox. Curse on you both.

Seriously. Red Sox acting like the Marlins when they traded Cabrera and the Rays/Athletics with nearly everyone. He was 27 for fucks sake, not 30+ But I guess they unloaded David Price...

I don’t care for the Dodgers, but baseball fucked them over the past two seasons. They deserve this win.

That said, fuck Justin Turner, MLB, and the Dodgers for letting a COVID-positive player run around because he feels like it.

Free agency is going to be really interesting. Some decent names out there like Bauer and Realmuto, but teams are slashing organizational payroll, a bunch of guys were nontendered and now the market is flooded with average players. How has that worked out for NHL free agents? Lots of guys in their late 20s will not get their paydays, and a few will find themselves out of baseball altogether, especially if they contract the minor leagues as expected.

The Giants made a bold play, tagging SP Kevin Gausman with a qualifying offer at almost 19M. He's not a 19M player, but he's also the hardest throwing starter available and was unhittable for stretches in San Francisco. They're not spending much elsewhere this offseason, so either way they win: they either get a solid pitcher back for an inflated one-year deal, or they lose him and get a compensatory pick. There's also talk that this is just leverage to sign him long-term, and the QO will make it hard for other teams to compete on that front. Again, Giants have little money invested beyond 2022, so this guy for a couple of years won't break the bank.
