Pre-Risto trade...

Skinner - Eichel - Reinhart
Olofsson - Mittelstadt - Johansson
Sheary - Rodrigues - Vesey
Sobotka - Larsson - Girgenssons
Okposo (IR, eventually)

Dahlin - Montour
McCabe - Miller
Scandella - Ristolainen

Hutton
Ullmark

That's a decent lineup all things considered. The podcast I'm listening to now thinks the not-as-good Rasmus is destined for Edmonton. If it was something like Risto-for-RNH...good Lord...

Matt Hunwick to miss the season due to what Buffalo says is a neck injury.

https://wgr550.radio.com/articles/news/ ... out-season

He's in the final year of contract that'll pay him $2.25 million. Already there are fellow blueliners Lawrence Pilut and Zach Bogosian.

Without a doubt one of my least-favorite Avalanche players of all time. Don't think this makes much of a difference for them one way or another.

Those BS hats are a pretty good sign that even design work is being contracted out to other nations. I don't think any native English speakers would miss BS as being a bad idea.

Welp, the more things change...

I mean, I'm sure the knives have already come out for Captain Jack once again, but really, this just isn't a very deep team. Still way too many overpriced hangers-on.

Doesn't help that Casey Mittelstadt is still not quite putting it together. Some time in Rochester may be necessary.

And FFS...just trade Risto already!

Don't want to jinx it but somehow Zach Bogosian has managed to play 7 games without falling completely apart.

Lost in all the hubbub over recent trades is the fact that the Sabres signed a career AHL goon, Dalton Smith, to an NHL deal, called him up for one game against the Lightning, played him a grand total of 1:26, blew a huge lead against said Lightning and lost 6-4, then sent him down again. This was all in response to a couple cheap shots Buffalo got that injured Dahlin and Sobotka the last time those two teams squared off.

Well...suffice to say...it didn't work.

Oh, shit...on top of the team's struggles, it appears the organization completely and totally half-assed alumni night. Made cheap and inauthentic mockups of the old 90s jerseys and then misspelled at least a couple of the names on the back. That's inexcusable.

The anger from the fanbase is palpable at this point. And they're all led by some guy named Duane.

It's happening...Sabres are losing to the Detroit Red Wings, the NHL team on pace to set a record for fewest wins in a modern NHL season, 2-0 after two periods, and...holy fuckin' shit the fans are about ready to burn everything down.

Ouch...I shared this with a Buffalo fan a week or so back (yes I suppose they do exist even down here)....he said he was aware of the Knock off jersey and misspelling debacle....not even sure how you let that happen.

The Pegulas fire a bunch of people. Shocking but not really shocking...Jason Botterill was not one of them.

What a wonderful time to fire someone!

Interesting enough, the push (at least from some fans and Mike Harrington) has been to get the Pegulas to relinquish day-to-day operations and hand the reins to a president or executive VP or someone like that. Instead they just went ahead and canned those types of people.

Sabres fans' previously favorite owners, Tom Golisano, was recently quoted in a news article regarding the pandemic. I can't remember exactly what he said, but was busy puffing away on an expensive cigar and more or less said one of those tone-deaf quotes you'd expect from one of the wealthy elites who think it's okay if a few thousand plebs die, so long as the economy recovers.

I thought about starting a new thread for this news, but...why?

https://www.tsn.ca/buffalo-sabres-fire- ... -1.1486445

Jason Botterill fired, Kevyn Adams named GM. Near as I can tell, Adams has no front office experience whatsoever.

What the hell was the song and dance for saying his job was secure?

That's always the kiss of death.

The Pegulas are first class meddlers. No GM will ever be safe.

Sounds like Botterill's constant bungling finally caught up with him when he completely bungled the whole Lawrence Pilut situation.

Unfortunately, the Pegulas have somehow made things a 1000X worse by not only bringing in a guy with no front office experience, they got rid of a lot of executives as well, some of whom had been with the organization for years.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say Adams is just a puppet--Kim Pegula is the de facto GM.

Pray for the Sabres, or at least pray for their fans.
