The Wings will go as far as their first line can carry them. They've carried them to 2-0.

Larkin is a fucking machine now, just a model of consistency. Last season only went 3 or more games(4 games) one single time without a point.

Gregg Kruppa likes to describe Tyler Bertuzzi as A Hockey Player. I've described him like that before too. Guy just knows how to play the game. Tons of hockey smarts.

Mantha has been criticized for an inconsistent effort in the past but when he's on...look out. Sounds like Franzen? Well, he just scored 4 of 4 last night for the win, the first Wings 4-goal game since Mule put up 5 against the Sens in 2011. Hoping to see him have a monster season.

Wings fans are ready for a long, bad season. But this first line, along with Hronek, AA and some other kids that get into the lineup, will be worth watching.

Better to watch a young team with upside and little hope than a bunch of vets clinging to what little hope is left, which I feel had been the Wings' MO in the final Hank years. Now they've got a clean slate and nowhere to go but up.

That's it exactly. 3 straight first-round losses going into the new building and Kenny re-signs guys on the wrong side of the aging curve for more money, and goes to the free agent market. Then when the rebuild did begin, he didn't tear it down as swiftly as needed.

As good as finishing last for the best odds to get Lafrenière would be, I feel like we'd get Colorado'd in the lottery. I just can't cheer for this team to lose.

Both times the odds were slightly in favour of pick 4 over 1,2,3 combined, but that's still a tough pill to swallow.

Surprisingly, Iyer is saying nice things about Patrik Nemeth. He and Green together actually makes a lot of sense.

Lose to the Ducks, who surged once everyone on twitter was pointing and laughing at how awful the Ducks are. Thanks a lot, twitter hockey peeps.

3-5, -9 goal differential. The Wings are who we thought they were.

Haven't watched much. First glance at the advanced number shows he's about team average 5-5 so not much worse than everyone else. 94.6 PDO getting buried by both bad sh% and sv%.

That sounds about right. He really improved his puck skills from his first full pro season when all he'd do before is just ice it every time, but he's definitely not a guy you want with the puck on his stick. Decent fill-in option for a rebuilding team.

Nemeth scored his first last night on a slap shot. Wings stop their losing streak(nhl.com calls it winless since they had a point in an OTL) with a win over the Oilers.

It was an empty netter, but Hronek corrals the puck after Nemeth and Larkin deny McDavid an entry, backs up with McDavid trying to get loose, then absolutely launches a bomb into the open net from right in front of his own crease. Kid's really good.

Larkin's was really nice too. Green does an absurd knock-down of a pass back to the blue line, Bert corrals the bouncing puck, holds it drawing everyone high, moves it over to Hirose who finds Larkin with time for a nice finish.

The Wings continue to be bad, but they also sent down Svechnikov before having the chance to play against his brother. They couldn't have lost anything more by leaving him up against his brother. Shitty thing to do if you ask me.

Late night one for one deal: Jacob de la Rose to St. Louis for Robby Fabbri.

DLR is what he is. Fabbri had a ton of upside once but hasn't stayed healthy long enough to realize it.

Huh, wasn’t even paying attention to this one. I just happened to have the DET/BOS game on and saw Fabbri in a Wings jersey.

FFS if that’s not goaltender interference then stop the challenge rule NOW.
