Maclean was a blowhard but I didn't mind Kyper. Either way, Rogers being Rogers they're going to try to make money out of this NHL deal, even if it means broadcasting the games in complete darkness with one camera.

I know both guys had their fair share of detractors but I actually enjoyed their Sportsnet at Noon show with Jeff Marek (that airs on NHL Network on this side of the 49th). I occasionally caught Kyper's roundtable segments, but obviously we don't get those regularly here.

Would've rather seen them finally do away with Grapes, but it's sad and obvious why they won't.

Fecking hell, they got rid of John Shannon as well. Isn't he, like, their fact-checker extraordinaire?

Pretty sure Shannon's been viewed as a shill for the league for a while. Used to be a tv guy with the NHL.

MacLean was awful. Kyper was ok at times but awful at others.

Marek is fantastic and should be hosting HNIC at some point.

The bloodletting continues at Rogers Media in the wake of that horrendous 12-year, $5.2 billion deal with the NHL.

This is a result of the underperforming TV deal = the dreadful Jays numbers + underachieving Canadian NHL clubs + cheap TV adds + greedy projections + bad numbers = the perfect storm.

Pierre McGuire demoted at NBC, Brian Boucher takes over between the benches.

Inevitable as Pierre continues to hard turn against stats. Hard to be an analyst that way!

Pierre's delivery was always better in the studio anyways. He tends to way over-complicate the language needed to dissect plays in a reasonable amount of time without rushing( or not even using hockey terms to describe what happened - "He up-tempo'd the game BIG TIME!!!" - the guy created a turnover and made a quick pass the other way). And yeah, his absolutely dismissal of stats to the point where he's trying to point out things to shit on them, is just...something all right.

Wow, the rest of the broadcast crew will actually be able to get a word or two in now!

Kyper was ok, Shannon is awful, McGuire was overdue to be replaced, and I won't miss Maclean.
