I hope they don't do something stupid this offseason.

The Flyers are going to do something stupid this offseason.

Fuck that, do ALL the stupid things this offseason! I was bored with the Flyboys being sensible under Hextall (which still kinda blows my mind given his reputation as a player).

Please do lots of stupid things. In the off-season, at the draft, in free agency, in training camp, hell, even on the ice.

I don't know if this qualifies as stupid, but the Flyboys have traded a pick to the Peg for the rights to pending UFA Kevin Hayes.

I guess that means Giroux is more or less permanently a wing now, with Couturier, Laughton and Patrick set to occupy the other centre spots.

Hayes is a sorta fine number two centre.

Damn...the Avs were set to make a big run at him this summer. Guess Philly knew that.

Oh well, there are still a lot of red flags on that guy, so I'm not sure he's worth the major coin they're likely going to drop on him. Avs will just have to find another solution.

Decent enough pickup for the Flyboys, but this feels a bit like an indictment on Nolan Patrick. He'll probably start out as the 3rd line center and then move up over time. If he can't develop properly under THOSE circumstances, then he's a bust.

Flyers make an on-the-surface good but likely bad one-for-one swap, adding Matt Niskanen from the Caps for Radko Gudas.

No doubt Matt is a better player than Radko, but that extra year for Niskanen in 20-21 might be more trouble than it's worth, and that's not counting the Radko money they're supposedly retaining. Caps needed to move long-term salary and found a taker.

Horrible deal for the Flyboys, but I love it because they're back to making stupid decisions. Make the offseason fun again!

Fletcher touted all the intangibles, how Niskanen's a Cup winner, blah blah blah...it's clear he didn't learn a goddamn thing from his spectacular faceplant finish in Minny.

This is why the Flyers haven't won a Cup since the 70s.

Gudas and Wilson on the same team. I hope they take each other out in training camp, trying to show who's the bigger asshole.

Why don't they go for the douche bag hat trick and trade for Marchand?

Now that they have Braun and Niskanen, maybe these buffoons really will trade Ghost?

I would be pissed if they tried to sign Kawhi.

He would totally deliver a.cup to the Fliers.

Board man gets paid.

7 years, 50 million for Hayes? Holy shitballs. I know there aren't many centers available this year, but has anyone ever thought Hayes was worth that kind of money?

But hey, they bought out Andrew "Snow Angel" MacDonald. So that was smart.

This is why the Avs finally backed off. They weren't willing to go there, and I'm fine with that.

Better off giving a Karlsson 11.5 then a Hayes 7M. Always. Go for the star and worry about the rest later.

Again, I love it when the Flyers do shit like this because it just doesn't make any sense. They clearly felt that Nolan Patrick wasn't developing at the rate they would have hoped, but to commit THIS much money and term to a guy who probably should be shifted to wing or 3C in the next 2-3 years tells me they're much lower on NP than previously thought.

Not to mention the fact that they also have Morgan Frost coming up through the ranks. Where does he fit in? This feels like it's gonna go the way of the Briere contact, only worse.

Jesus H. Christ. They've been burned as badly by Brian Elliott as bad as a goalie could possibly burn you, there's all kinds of decent options on the free agent market, and they decide to bring him back AGAIN!?!?!? Even at one year and two million this is insanely stupid.

Holmgren steps down as team president, becomes "Senior Advisor," so in essence he's retired.

https://www.inquirer.com/flyers/philade ... 90711.html

Fletcher now gets to be Prez and GM, which sure seems to be a lot of power to give a guy who just got there.

This seems like a great start to the Kevin Hayes Era in Philly...

https://news.yahoo.com/report-kevin-hay ... 54707.html

Quote:
“He goes ‘Oh yeah, I just ran into Kevin Hayes.’ He said Kevin Hayes told him the only way he’s going to the Flyers is if the Flyers overpaid to get him.”
