Dude I use mine almost daily. I make picadillo, Mississippi pot roast, burrito bowls, I saute beef and chicken, melt down pumpkins, and it makes perfect sushi rice.

Upgraded and renewed internet package is an additional $23/month.

When we each got $.5M term life insurance for 20 years at 32 and 29 years old, I think the rate is close to that per month for healthy, non-smokers. Get your life insurance, folks.

I know I say this every winter, but this winter has really sucked. It was mild till mid-January, then ever since it's been heavy snow and wild temperature fluctuations. My street and sidewalk is covered in an unbreakable ice layer and salt can only do so much.

Ice is the worst. Especially when it warms up and gets water on top of it. Back on February 27, 1997, I slipped on some water covered ice and suffered a double compound tib-fib spiral fracture that was very similar to Joe Theismann's injury. I was supposed to go see Mario Lemieux's final game in Detroit that night. I saw most of the 1997 playoffs on crutches. I was lucky. I kept my leg and I can walk. I came close to having an amputation according to my orthopedic surgeon. I can't run, skate or ski anymore. Get some calcium chloride ice melter. It works much better than salt and at lower temperatures. You want nothing to do with a spiral fracture, trust me. Get rid of the ice by any means possible.

Damn, didn't think I'd ever hear a thicker Quebecois accent than Patrick Roy, but I just heard Denis Villeneuve talk just now.

Might have achieved legendary status at a restaurant/inn in Port Stanley last weekend by ordering the half-dozen oyster special for dessert. I thought I ordered it for the appetizer but apparently I ordered the scallops so I still wanted oysters. My order had made it's way to other staff by the morning.

Second time I've done that and probably something I'll do more often unless there's key lime pie.

There's a restaurant in the Flora-Bama area that serves up amazing chargrilled oysters. The only person who likes them more than I do is my youngest niece.

In my box of electrical stuff. Tossed them in there while grabbing my wire strippers.

Pliers are great at laying around in plain sight until you actually need a pair.

 I had a horrible dead mouse stink in my basement for a week. Couldn't find the littler fucker (and who would want to- the way to find it is to deeply sniff until you find the strongest odor area!). Last night I saw it- in a trap I'd set by the furnace like 6 months ago. It was obviously maggot ridden, so I looked for my big channel locks. Couldn't find them. Found a smaller pair and tossed said mouse into garbage bag, then set down the smaller channel locks to get later on- I should say set them down right next to the larger pair. So now I've got 2 pairs of channel locks still sitting in the basement 12 hours afterwards.

I'm a fan of the V-jaw ones I bought.

https://www.channellock.com/product/442/

Willing to spend more money on good ones(like the pliers) instead of the cheapo ones that rust in a year and can barely grip stuff.

Our church camp on Samish Island received a donation of 20 dozen fresh oysters from the neighboring (because we were in Washington, duh) oyster farm last week. We were advised that due to the time of year, we ought NOT to eat them raw, so we roasted them lightly over an open fire, served them with slices of fresh lemon and several bottles of Sriracha - absolutely delicious. I must have had nearly two dozen by myself. The guy from our church who works for the fisheries industry ate several raw and was just fine... I should've tried that but decided to follow the rules. Getting old sucks.

CBC has a photo share for readers. My wife's photo of a bald eagle made it on their website. We were in Haida Gwaii this past weekend:

That's awesome! I've been pleasantly surprised at the sheer number of bald eagles that have made the West Coast their home. We have one or two eagles in our area that are actively competing with ravens for territory.

No random thoughts in over a month!? Y'all are slackin'.

Also, I now see that Photbucket is REALLY clamping down. First they threw an ugly watermark all over everything, now they're blurring stuff out.

Someone said "Wassap" in a meeting today and I was like "Man...how long ago was that? 10 years?"

20. 20 fucking years. It fucking pre-dates OTP(when did this party start? Must have been in 2002. That summer was when I was by myself at school going on faceoff.com).

Yep, I didn't start getting on online chats about hockey until Faceoff.com until I was working in Boulder, and that job started about a month before 9/11. So Faceoff went away, what, a year or two after that or something? Or at least we started migrating away from it around that time.
