According to CapFriendly, it's a full No Movement Clause. So they can't even send him down. The guy played all of 4 games for the Isles, at a time when they went through goalies like toilet paper, as most tore in half...
It's just fucking astounding.

I'd love to give Oilers players some truth serum and ask their opinions on the deal. And of Chiarelli.

For a goalie it's easy to pick your no-trade list, though.

Holy fuck do Oilers fans and others get up in arms when you suggest limiting the number of 1st overalls a team can get via the lottery. Their argument essentially boils down to "What if the pick is a Yakupov???" or "The Oilers had 4 but are still very bad".

Citing one of the worst 1st overall picks, or the Oilers vast incompetence, are not good reasons to make sure teams don't continue to win lottery picks. Under the current system, I'm sure that they would have been thrilled if the Hawks had managed to get Toews/Kane and then won the lottery for Stamkos. Or if the Sabres get Hughes this year. I'm sure they were perfectly fine with PIT getting MAF/Malkin/Crosby then Staal 2nd overall(or Toews!).

I think it's a great idea. Pathetic that it took a team that somehow managed to get all these can't-miss players and still managed to miss for a decade running now to even consider this rule.

and this is an issue that fans have some control over. If your management is grossly incompetent quit buying tickets and merchandise and watching the games. Hurt ownership in the pocketbook and they'll be motivated to sell the team or try hiring competent mangers.

It is hard to believe that a team with Draisaitl and McDavid can be this bad.

McDavid's third straight season with 100 points. The Oilers still blow dead bears.

In case you were wondering, Therrien got fired and Crosby won a Cup his fourth season.

I guess Sabres fans can take solace knowing that even if they had McDavid they'd probably still suck.

This thread was started 5.5 years ago. That's a long time to suck and waste a lot of #1 picks' careers.

Apparently Bob Nicholson blamed the team's failure on...Tobias Rieder.

The countdown to McDavid's eventual trade request has begun.

I've been thinking the same thing. The org just can't get out of its own way.

Already some hand-wringing with top prospect Kailer Yamamoto, this after previous top prospect Jesse Puliujarvi has all but busted out of the NHL and is indicating through his agent that he wants out. If Evan Bouchard struggles in the pros, look out.

This fucking thread...

Anyway, Oilers eliminated again, and Connor McDavid's have reportedly sent the organization into full, unadulterated panic mode. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that were true.

Someone on HF thinks #97 will put up with maybe one more season of suckage, but after that, he'll want out by the following deadline.

They got 103 points two years ago with a similar cast. How have they not improved the team at all since then?

Maybe they need a Millenial behind the bench......I've watched this team a fair bit and they have plenty of talent. But they like to take shifts off and not put the work in. No consistency and a lack of accountability to each other. I thought perhaps Hitchcock could address that but they don't seem to buy his message either. Time for a Hockey Therapist to go in there and help out these young ones!

They still lack of lot of talent. They've dumped so much talent and assets and have nothing to show for it but one line, terrible D and a full cap hit.
