I don't understand how he manages to get so much behind shots when he's off-balance or seemingly not using the rest of his body. It's like he just flicks the wrist and it just flies off his blade.

He has got that pull in release that gives him a good 2.5 - 3 feet of angle change that is too quick for goalie to adjust for, then he is so hard and accurate as well. Goalies just has to hope he misses his spot as they ain't getting it otherwise. Too add to the problem he has short sided a few goalies by leaving the puck out and shooting from there with out pulling it in when they start cheating for the pull it into the feet shot. Oh and then he often shoots off stride which really screws with the keepers timing.

Oh and unlike beer leaguers Matthews and most pro's know how to work the stick flex into a shot. His delivery and stick flex characteristics have been very well matched.

Cap hit $11.634 million to be exact. Next year when Matthews deal kicks in, they will have 2 players tying up over $22M in cap space with Marner, Kapanen next on the docket. Then there's the D.

Yowza indeed.

Well...not much else they could've done there. Auston wasn't about to take the McDavid Discount. And Lil' Mitch won't either.

See ya Gardiner.

Shoot was hoping for 11 per myself. That is to much on a five year deal with a guy that has not proven he play a full season.

so far between him and Nylander I would have liked to see another million still on the table.

Lots of big time RFA's are smiling a little brighter this afternoon.

I mean sure Matthews has the potential to be the second best player but it is not likely and he is now paid to be that is he not?

I will flip out if Point goes and signs a bargain deal.

Interesting that they wouldn't go for the full 8 years.

Leafs have a LOT of money tied up in just a few guys, and what do they have- 5-6 RFAs to sign this year? Marner and Kapanen among them. Should get very interesting.

Oops...that's bad timing if they were planning to name him the captain.

I kind of rolled my eyes at this story.....he (or someone in his entourage) jiggled the handle....its not like he dragged his nether region parts across the window or they all jumped up and down on the car.....

What makes this story even more sad is that she actually got out to confront them...so if she was actually traumatized by the pack of wild young men I think the prudent thing to do would be to drive off or perhaps call authorities from her car.

What tops this all off is that he mooned without actually mooning......at the place where he lives!

I doubt this would have gained any traction if Matthews wasn't involved.

Can't even be a drunk young guy anymore.....the outrage!

:hrm:

I mean, in the long run it's not like he ran his truck into a Tim Horton's and fled the scene, nor did he drunkenly choke a woman, or beat up a cabbie. It's a minor incident, and the day comes when a 22-year-old man doesn't do something idiotic under the influence of alcohol, it will be a first. It's still not a good look, but it won't really effect his ascension into the ranks of hockey's elites.
