Much as I have felt so very depressed by the news cycle, there are moments like these that pull me out of the muck.

Location: Too deep in crease.
Watched it. Not as riveting as the rover landing was, but that is actually good news.

Put the kettle on, lid and all, no problem!

It does look like another Mars mission has gone silent, but not before going an insane amount of years beyond its intended life expectancy.

And there's another rover on its way for a direct shot into Mars' atmosphere. This time carrying a helicopter with it.

Osiris-Rex punched Bennu in the face and got a sample set to return in 2023.

It'll be kinda cool if indeed we see a crewed mission to Mars and they eventually visit all the various rovers and probes, from Viking to Curiosity, still either sitting there or still running and transmitting.

Perseverance and her crew absolutely nailed the landing in Jezebel Crater. Cannot wait to see the video footage of the sky crane dropping the rover off.

I’m too lazy to post it but the footage of the sky crane landing is mind-blowing.

Yeah it's fucking incredible. Just the shot of the sky crane flying away at the end is right out of some old sci fi movie.

I go every day to view the camera footage of that day. The panoramas of Jezero Crater are amazing.

I think this is more or less the Space Thread, so...here's some fun stuff on the Mars helicopter, which IMO is friggin' mindblowing that we have an actual aircraft taking off and landing on an alien planet.
