Man, the backlash to this has been something. Just check out the replies to that video. Once again, Melnyk comes out and speaks publicly at the WORST possible time, right when positive buzz is actually starting in wake of the rookie camp/tournament.

It's getting to the point where I can't go to sleep without checking my Twitter feed.

Apparently he accused people around town of starting rumours about the team leaving. It was literally him, on the biggest stage. Is he losing his shit?

Yeah...clearly this was 100% his idea, no way in hell anyone in the PR department came up with this.

I really, really hope DGB does one of his video breakdowns of this. So much to parse through.

Shit I didn't even notice the horrid typeface they used for the names so it looks like Mark's last name is "Borowwiccki".

People are also pointing out it's a really old jersey and one in the background has the tags on it.

Yeah, Veillette is guessing, like 2007-10 or something like that. Just crazy that cheap-ass bastard couldn't be bothered to get a new one.

BTW, remember that rumored rebranding they were gonna do? Yeah, right. All that came of that was Melnyk being genuinely surprised that the fans hate the current look.

I did not notice there were tags on one of the sweaters in the background. That's hilarious. I'm guessing Melnyk thought this up last minute and made his staff scramble like mad to put it together. Or Melnyk wanted to make sure they just put those jerseys back in the pro shop after filming was done.

I'm surprised he didn't ask a staffer to bring in their own jersey for the background.

So the Sens might dress as many as 10 rookies this season? Go fer it, I guess.

White, Wolanin, Harpur, Tkachuk, Brown, Jaros, Formenton, Englund, Sturtz, Paul, Sieloff?

What's opening night going to look like?

Tkachuk-Duchene-Stone
Formenton-Pageau-Ryan
Chlapik-Smith-White
Boedker-Brown-Dzingel
Pyatt

Wolanin-Karlsson*
Chabot-Ceci
Borowiecki-Wideman
Harpur, Jaros

Anderdon

Unbelievable, Jean-Gabriel Pageau hurt himself during a fitness test and may need Achilles tendon surgery. Could be out for the year, but almost assuredly out for a giant chunk of the season.

Something investigate Matt Cooke's whereabouts at the time of the tests...

Such monumental incompetence. They refused to discount any potential trade for Karlsson if Vegas agreed to take on Bobby Ryan's albatross deal, something they were amenable to earlier apparently, then went and got a shit return for Karlsson anyway.

Just think of where this franchise might be right now if Bryan Murray were still alive and in charge, and how very quickly things unraveled after his death.

Louis Jean is reporting today that Mark Stone wants out of Ottawa, which Stone himself has swiftly denied.
