Well, he does have that slick jet-black hair now. I'm tellin' ya, add a cape he can drape over his face and a sinister laugh and you got yourself a proper villain!

I always imagine Benning talking in all caps because of Ian's comic strip.
 Jim is getting just ripped on TSN1040 right now -- characterized as an incompetent buffoon after Aquilini threw he and Green into a media conference call last week in lieu of an Aquilini presser to discuss the departure of Linden.

"I have no idea what happened with Trevor and the owners. Trev was my boss. We would collaborate as a group and stuff, share ideas, sometimes write things down on paper or do slide shows" - all in his Fred Rogers mono voice.....the humor that can be found in this organization knows no bounds.

What's really funny is that we know for certain Ian has a hard drive with, like, 2 gigs worth of nothing but Jim Benning photos.

Every single GM in the league wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't at least enquire on Karlsson. Benning on record today saying there is no way they move their 1st Round pick or any top prospects to obtain him. Can't imagine any scenario where he's a fit for Vancouver -- so Aquilini will probably step in he'll get traded there.

Not to mention I don't think Karlsson re-ups there.

Ottawa needs to realize they have ZERO leverage here. The only reason to keep EK65 at this point is try and pad that 1st rounder as best they can. Same applies to Duchene and Stone.

Rumours out of Ottawa that Dorion wants a 1st Round pick, a top 6 roster player and 2 prospects for Karlsson. Plus the fact that he's in a trade and sign position. Totally conceivable that he just doesn't get moved.

They should've moved him at the deadline last year. No one is going to pay that insane price when they can just wait until July 2019 and sign him.

They're reporting now that Karlsson won't sign with a Canadian team, but earlier they reported he won't sign anywhere other than Tampa.

I could see Dorion completely screwing this up. I mean, he kinda already is.

Plus he has a limited trade clause allowing him to pick 10 teams. His choices will be playoff contenders for certain. Edmonton might be an interesting trading partner for both the teams and Karlsson.

Heh...reminds me of these. I think I even didn't like what Edmonton gave up at the time(or maybe one of the other deals...can't remember). Pronger was older in all of those trades.

http://news.stlpublicradio.org/post/blu ... r#stream/0

Brewer(top pairing D at the time?) + 2 prospects

https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/edm ... eim-ducks/

Lupul(top 6 wing at the time), Smid(D prospect, 9th overall), 2 1sts, 1 2nd

Quote:
On June 27, 2009, Pronger, along with forward Ryan Dingle, was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Lupul (earlier traded to Edmonton for Pronger in 2006), defenceman Luca Sbisa, two first round draft picks and a conditional third round draft pick.

Lupul again! 1st round D prospect again! 2 1sts and conditional 3rd!

Pretty much the same kind of asking price.

My wife is friends with someone within the Linden family. The rumours were true. Trevor wanted to stay on but was pushed out by the Aquilini's because his rebuild timeline was slower involving more youth development in the short term. The firing didn't come from Francesco, but more from his father and patriarch of the family Luigi - who apparently everyone is terrified of. Benning and Weisbrod must have sold them a different bill of goods. If the Canucks don't show some marked improvement this season (which they won't), you have to think Benning is as good as gone.

The Leaf's? Although I guess Toronto for so many years wanted to be American that perhaps we shouldn't count them as truly Canadian.

Anyone see the pic posted of the vets seated at the press conference? They all looked like they were at a dental appointment. Tanev looked especially pained.

Well, Buffalo wants to be Canadian so it balances out.
