Great interview. Kid's got a ton of personality.

I have to admit I'm pretty excited to see this potential lineup on the ice...at least an all-first-overall-pick line, which I'm guessing will be an NHL first.

Hall - Nugent-Hopkins - Yakupov
Jones - Gagner - Eberle
Smyth - Horcoff - Hemsky
Eager - Belanger - Paajaarvi-not-Svensson

Smid - Petry
Schultz - Schultz
Whitney - Potter

Dubykhabibulin

There's the potential for some extraordinary power play unit combinations here. Still, the D as a whole is a big fat question mark (especially if Whitney gets hurt yet again) and the goaltending...well...

Yeah, Dallas Eakins is scratching Yak for the second time tonight.

Yak was the team's leading goal scorer as a rookie last season.

Eakins is a joke. A wannabe who wants to be the centre of attention.

"I'm going to play my game. I'm not going to change but maybe play better without the puck, or forecheck more, but I love playing with the puck. I really don't like skating all the time, and forechecking, and hitting somebody every shift. I don't think it's my game."
Yikes! Runaway Oilers!

Ah yes, hockey would be so much more fun if it wasn't for all the need to be 'skating all the time'. :hurr:

It might be a bit of mistranslation there--I think he just means he's not going to be a grinder or overly physical player.

Then again, there might be no mistranslation.

Oilers are still trying to balance grit and skill. Their skill players are too small/soft to carry the load themselves, and the grinders are either way past their expiration dates or just plain awful.

Wait, what? When did Grebeshkov return to the NHL?

I thought the same thing....must be a mistranslation....but he needs to be careful! The media will eat him alive.

He's been mistranslated before so I agree......its even worse he tweets in English! That's a disaster waiting to happen! Sensitive + Outspoken= train wreck.

Hope the circus currently going on in Edmonton make people realize Ralph Krueger got a raw deal in Edmonton and deserves another shot. Not so sure Tambellini does though.

I think Eakins is doing this to deflect attention away from Dubnyk's struggles.

PK Subban was benched for two games in 2010-11 (and again for one in 2011-12) and he turned out to be the best defenseman in the NHL. So, yeah. There's a long game at play here.

That said, the policy to bench talents like Yak or PK for scrubs like Acton or Picard is ridiculous and deserves to be mocked in every way imaginable.

This went under the radar quite a bit. $2.5m a season.

Pretty quick to re-up. The ruble is so worthless players can't even use the K as a negotiating tactic anymore.

Sadly, being a #1 bust does happen. Drafted # 1 in 2012 when EDM was enjoying their endless supply of # 1 picks....bounced around the league ......is not qualified by the Avs in 2018 and now in the KHL after making league minimum.

What I find interesting is the fact that Jankowski was picked in the same draft by the Flames and they are still trying to work him in slowly....and Yakupov is on his way out...........

Someone thinks he can still make it or be useful......
