I really don’t love the Avs moves so far but I understand why they did them.

Where are the Nuckers? What the hell is their team doing? 2 Mil for Schaller, 3 Mil for Jay beagle and Roussel for 4 years! Hey at least you resigned Sven.

Is it too early to start the Artemi Panarin watch? Yes.....yes it is. Should start the Karlson watch first I guess.

A lot of these signings are silly..Ian Cole, Thomas Vanek, David Perron, Ward, Bernier....these guys are all getting 3-4 Million! They are barely hanging on......I don't like the signings from Detroit....after looking like wizards at the draft they throw money at Vanek and Bernier. Those contracts should be more at the Kunitz level. But I guess even Holden, Bartowski, Hammond and Jimmy Hayes are still getting signed so......

St Louis also appears to be giving away money Bozak, Perron, Johnson.

LA Kings....What? Kovaluchuk 3 years at 6.2 Mil? Puff, puff, pass.

Luke Schenn came cheap to the Ducks...what happened to his game?

We're hiding out in dark places, sacrificing small animals and saying prayers to have BenLinden fired.

The Canucks have shown time and time again they have no interest in weaponizing their cap space. As per their owner, they like to spend money. Their rebuild plan is to shield the youth (they are scared shitless of the lost leadership of the Sedins), create internal competition and try to maintain a 'winning environment' (hence the curious signings) -- even if they are losing more than they are winning.

The Canucks have done a good job over the past 2 years with their drafting, with the way they have put some young players into the lineup and the way that their organizational depth is finally starting to take shape. These UFA signings don't mesh with that development. Spending 'free' money interferes with that plan.

The Canucks must create a clear path for the kids to play meaningful minutes.

Don't mind the Schaller signing given it's only 2 years. He adds a physical element the Canucks were lacking last season and can play anywhere in the lineup. And it's only for 2 years. But he is a bottom six grinder with little offensive upside.

The Roussel and Beagle contracts will forever be linked, which makes sense as they are identical, were given on the same day and both players project to play in Vancouver’s bottom-six. Roussel is clearly meant to be a replacement for the retired Derek Dorsett, and he’s a good forechecker who might be able to create havoc in the form of turnovers for his linemates to pounce on. Roussel is a worthy addition to the Canucks and will be fun to watch. However, it’s a bad contract that will only look much worse if it turns out Roussel’s latest season was the beginning of his decline.

Maybe Loui Eriksson will also re-appear with the Twins being gone :? Another UFA waste of money throw away.

For fucks sake, Ken. You specifically sign guys like Green and Vanek to eventually trade them at the deadline. Which means you DON'T GIVE THEM FUCKING TRADE PROTECTION.

Surprised at the reasonable prices people signed for.

Honestly thought guys like Moore and Nash would sign for 4-5M.

Yeah I'm honestly shocked. I thought this would be a record breaking exercise in fiscal irresponsibility, especially with another lockout/amnesty buyout period looming.

Sbisa, Hamhuis, Hanson. These three small words say a great deal.

I could see Lamoriello signing Hartnell. Grit! :viking:

And no, I don't want them to.

After arbitration season a few teams will have extra cash for one-year deals, but at this point some of these guys may want to check out the KHL if they want guaranteed money.

Blooz probably could've had Lehtonen for Chad Johnson money, but oh well.

Preds sign Dan Hamhuis to a 2-year, 1.25M AAV. No brainer move for a depth defenceman who can still play at 35.
