:wookie: Islanders pick up Wahlstrom and then they showed his f'n awseome young kid goals lacrosse style! Comparing him to Ovie......another big kid. I like these later first round picks.

Islanders follow with Dobson who fell outside 10. A steal.

Gutsy Kravtsov and Hayton picks. A little surprise after no picks ended up being traded.

I like that Hayton pick and I obviously like the comparison to Patrice.

Oh no, picking Barrett Hayton 5th overall when Zadina, Wahlstrom, Dobson, and Hughes were available is without a doubt a WTF pick. If they end up with not one, but TWO underwhelming center prospects Arizona is in a heap of trouble.

There have been some real surprises IMO. Tkachuk, Hayton, Dellandrea, and Kaut have all gone much higher than I would've expected.

Veleno is falling big-time. No idea where he ends up now. I was hoping like hell the Avs would get him, but apparently not.

Isles just knocked it out of the park. Wahlstrom and Dobson with their back-to-back picks. Brilliant offseason thus far for NYI.

Zedina great pick by DET. He's going to own it. Some swagger to him!

I was scared shitless that Detroit's brain trust was still going to pick a smallish defenseman while waiting for them to pick Zadina.

Throw your draft boards away, because teams are doing whatever they want. Veleno is dropping. Foudy and Dellandrea go early, so clearly they weren't sleepers.

Shit. Speedy two-way forward...Veleno couldn't be more of a Red Wings-type player if he tried.

Detroit got not one, but TWO kids who fell in the draft. They done did good as well.

It was all about the smallish puckmoving blueliners in this draft.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand Bode Wilde sees his dream of being a possible 1st rounder squelched. Alexander Alexeyev is the Caps' pick.

That'll do it for the first round. I'm looking forward to the 2nd round as there are still some very intriguing names up on the board. I expect Wilde to go early, but even then some solid talent to be had. Serron Noel, Akil Thomas, etc.

This guy on HF I know is giving out a free draft guide if you wanna download it.

http://www.thehockeyprospector.com/thp- ... ft-guides/

He's got a few non-consensus picks. For instance he put Zadina at #2, not Svechnikov.

Obviously WAY early but I love doing winner/loser lists.

Leaving the Sabres and Hurricanes out, we know they did good.

WINNERS
New York Islanders
Detroit Red Wings
Vancouver Canucks

LOSERS
Vegas Golden Knights (not worth trading out of the first round of this draft for Tatar, guys)
Calgary Flames (duh)
Dallas Stars
Arizona Coyotes

But I don't think anyone comes even close to Ottawa. They kept the pick and then picked a guy who's very likely NOT EVEN GOING TO PLAY FOR THEM NEXT SEASON.

Lastly, SJ once again takes a chance on a kid with perceived attitude issues and takes Ryan Merkley. That'll be an interesting player to keep an eye on for the next few years.
