There has been a lot of talk circulating about the Hart Trophy this year. Personally, my vote would go to MacKinnon for three reasons. 1) the team fell off the map when he was injured, and 2) he almost one handedly willed them back into the playoffs when he returned. and 3) He's got 92 points in 67 games.

I'm none too concerned. If Hall, Kopitar, Malkin, or McDavid win it, I'm fine with it. My vote would be for MacKinnon, but I'm obviously biased. But he is doin' the thing that McDavid did for Edmonton last season, buoying a pretty mediocre team into postseason contention all on his lonesome.

I get tired of the argument about the terminology. Who cares if it's "Most Valuable" or "Best Player," it's pretty subjective no matter how you cut it.

My votes:
Hart - Nathan MacKinnon
Vezina - Pekka Rinne
Norris - Seth Jones
Selke - Patrice Bergeron
Adams - Gerard Gallant
Masterson - Brian Boyle
Lady Byng - Who Cares
GM of the Year - George McPhee

I think MacKinnon is a shoo-in for the Hart. I could see Kopitar getting a nod if the Kings make the playoffs. McDavid maybe, or Malkin. Giroux and Kucherov will lose points for having good teammates, but they shouldn't.

Rinne and Barzal obvious winners. Jones or Hedman for Norris.

Man I thought some of the Toronto-based guys were insufferable. They're NOTHING compared to the idiots in Edmonton.

I wondered out loud on twitter to DGB that I wonder how many of the same guys pumping McDavid for the Hart have previously ripped on people for piling up the points when they're essentially out of the playoff picture...

GM is McPhee for sure. Why the fuck couldn't the Isles send Snow to Vegas and keep him???

Barzal for Calder. I couldn't give a shit about the rest. Fucking Islanders.

Hart - Nathan MacKinnon (Hall)
Vezina - Pekka Rinne
Norris - Seth Jones
Selke - Patrice Bergeron
Adams - Gerard Gallant
Masterson - Brian Boyle
Lady Byng - Wayne Gretzky
GM - George McPhee

Pretty similar to Av but the picks seem pretty obvious this year, except for the Hart.

Hart -Taylor Hall
Lindsay - Conner McDavid
Vezina - Pekka Rinne
Norris - Victor Hedman
Selke - Anze Kopitar
Adams - Gerard Gallant
Masterson - Brian Boyle
Lady Byng - William Karlsson
GM - George McPhee
Clancy - The Sedin twins
Calder - Mat Barzal

A lot of emotion in this one with three major tragedies honored that shook the world. Also was a tonne of cringe worthy stuff as usual. Was Jim Belushi pissed drunk or does he always just slur like that?

I'm fine with the overall results, some of the fine details of the voting kinda irked me. Bednar was a distant third in Adams voting behind Bruce Cassidy...?

Didn't watch the show but I was told it was about as awkward as previous ones. NHL just doesn't know how to avoid being cringeworthy.

All that said, the moment with the Humboldt Broncos survivors, Vegas first responders, and Stoneman Douglas hockey team all on stage together was a fine moment. But let's hope we never have to see the likes of it again.

The one thing I love about the NHL awards. The trophies are so frickin' huge they have to make a tiny replica for the acceptance speeches. Love seeing the winners struggle to lug them around for photo ops. If yer gonna go, go BIG...

Taylor Hall wins the Hart. Anyone predict that at the start of the season?

Hedman and Rinne take the other biggies. Selke voting actually made a bit of sense this year.

Gallant obviously wins the Jack.
