When your big change is bringing in a head coach with out a track record of every being a head coach at a pro level you should have reservations as to how good an upgrade it will turn out. But great head coaches all have to start somewhere and it is only three games, worry yes, declared it tank time no.

Tim Murray really made a mess of things. You simply can't strip a team as bare as he stripped it in one season and then try to build it back up to contention by the next one.

Far as the Swords go, the forward corps is not bad, something about that D-corps doesn't sit well with me. Analytics guys absolutely HATE Rasmus, though I doubt he's as bad as they say he is.

And Bogosian is hurt...again.

Somewhat surprised Ryan O'Reilly isn't having a bigger impact than he has. He'll never wow you with production or flashy plays, but the guy plays as smart a game as I've ever seen.

On a side note, did anyone notice the freakin' Devils are playing insanely fast, fun hockey?

Not a big fight fan these days but this is one hell of a punch that your boy Foligno took the other night.

Broken orbital, out for a week.

Ouch. There goes his pretty face.

As for the Sabres, I'm doing my best to stay positive. The the power play has been awful (more shorthanded goals against than all of last year). Two guys account for half the goals. Neither of our goalies are starting caliber. But, hey, we're not in last place.

It's going to be a long season.

(Go Yankees!)

Buffalo's not ready for primetime yet but the young core should take a step forward. Plus a full season of Jack should be fun.

The Isles have 3x more SH goals against than they have PP goals for. One SH goal against was the game winner for LA.
I hope that helps. lol

As for the Yankees- I knew they would lose vs Zoolander, but 7-1? Yeesh. Here's to them continuing to thrive under elimination pressure!

Man, things are bad. I'm not sure there's an immediate fix but I think this kid will be a huge addition next year.

https://twitter.com/MikeGrinnell_/statu ... 0670769152

Basically the Sabres just ain't gettin' enough from players not named Eichel and O'Reilly, and to a lesser extent, Kane. Hope they don't take that out on poor Phil.

Hard to believe one of the most celebrated offensive defensemen in the game and reknowned power play architect is currently coaching a team that has ZERO GOALS from its defense.

Quote:
The Buffalo Sabres (6-17-4) are one of the season's biggest disappointments, with GM Jason Botterill reportedly having told the rest of the NHL that everyone on his roster, save for star center Jack Eichel, is on the block. While he waits for his phone to ring, the Sabres GM made two moves on Monday: Placing veteran forward Matt Moulson, who is signed through 2019 at a $5 million AAV, on waivers for the purpose of assignment; and trading a fifth-round pick to the Detroit Red Wings, licking their own wounds after a 10-1 loss to the Canadiens, for forward Scott Wilson. Botterill was with the Pittsburgh Penguins when they drafted (in 2011) and developed Wilson, whom they traded to Detroit this season for Riley Sheahan. He's a 10-minute-a-night guy with a Stanley Cup ring. More importantly, he's one of the first "Botterill guys" from Pittsburgh added to his current team. Will there be more?

Man, that's something. And good as he is, that O'Reilly deal will be REALLY tough to move.

Moulson being waived. Damn shame. I like him, but not at $5 million.

A waiver wire bum going after the team's second leading scorer? Yeah things are going great here.

It mystifies me how the league can keep vilifying goal scorers like Kane for not doing more. Who cares? Let him score some fucking goals. Not everybody on your team needs to be Jere Lehtinen. Let Kane run and score 30, but keep him out of the defensive zone. How is that considered a bad thing but rewarding some garbage stone hands plumber PP time because he back checks well any different?

It’s really ridiculous. Falk can stuff it as far as I’m concerned. Kane is about the only thing worth watching out there.
