I don't get Emelin and Sbisa at all.

Not much quality to choose from off the Canucks I'm afraid. Good salary dump by Canucks @ $3.6M.

Sure, I get why Vancouver is thrilled to lose him, but Vegas isn't exactly struggling to hit the floor: they're at the cap limit right now! (Before you remove 10M in Clarkson/Grabovski LTIR money)

They must feel they can move Emelin and Sbisa for picks at some point. I see no other reason for selecting them.

Honestly thought they would take Guance, fantastic defensively with great Corsi and young. But it was announced in advance that Las Vegas would not be taking him so I assume there is some sort of deal.

From what I'm reading things would have gone VERY differently had McPhee been more aggressive. For instance, Jonathan Willis said on his Twitter feed that if McPhee had said he was going after Manson or Vatanen, Murray would have bought out Bieksa (probably should've done that anyway) to protect one and trade away the other (or get rid of Cam Fowler and keep both...again, something he should've done anyway).

Anyway, I still think McPhee should've been a little ballsier but I don't think he made any outright terrible decisions. Guess we'll see what he does with his excess players and how well he hits in a relatively weak draft year with all those picks.

It sure looks like the team that may have taken the biggest hit in the draft was Washington. Nate Schmidt is likely up for grabs and there are a few teams very interested.

Can someone explain Emelin, Engelland and Sbisa?

Engelland was announced as a Vegas resident and longtime veteran of the LV Wranglers. Seems like a bit of a stretch to me but whatever.

I absolutely cannot explain the other two, especially Sbisa.

Interesting. I guess every team needs a hometown boy and a team leader. Hopefully Engelland can fill that role for them.

Well in this league middle of the road is bad. To be fair we was much better last year than the year before. I actually started writing mediocre but thought I would put a positive spin.
