I believe J21 did that, and way back when he first made the forum months ago. Where have you been?

I'm reading McPhee isn't too keen on taking your bad contract, but he's very interested in your unsigned RFAs, especially the ones the current team has no intention of re-signing.

Mikhail Grigorenko, come on down!!!

EDIT: Sorry, I misread...it's VEGAS who won't be qualifying some of these RFAs, instead taking the picks.

But again, Grigorenko appears to be a prime candidate for this.

Seems like McPhee wants picks, good ones, above all else. He might take on a contract or two if the price is right.

How's that work? If you don't qualify a RFA like Grigorenko, you don't get any picks. They become UFA. I thought there was only draft pick compensation for unsigned first-rounders and qualified RFAs who sign an offer sheet?

Well this is interesting....if only because nothing else is happening.

I would assume Alex Chiasson gets picked from the Flames.

The Bruins list is a little easier to pick from. Its a wash of aging players with bad contracts (but who's list isn't). Colin Miller seems to be the no brainer here.

Enjoy that 120 F degree heat Northern boys!

The leaks are coming: Vegas gets Cody Eakin from Dallas, David Perron from St Loo and Erik Haula from Minny

Sounds like Murray is paying a hefty price to keep his best players. In exchange for not taking Vatanen or Manson AND selecting Clayton Stoner, Anaheim is sending over a 1st and Shea Theodore.

Yeah I was confused by that as well. I guess I don't quite get what McPhee means by "throwaway picks." Maybe he just means he'll take RFAs the other team has no intention of signing and that's it.

The @FakeOilersGM Twitter is on fire right now.

Man, if these leaked acquisition rumors are true McPhee is sure taking on a lotta crap right now. Apparently he was so incensed with what Calgary had to offer he's just gonna pick UFA Deryk Engelland and not sign him.

McPhee taking Emelin and his 4.1M contract, and I'd have to assume it's not out of the goodness of his heart.

Vegas gets from the Isles: 2017 1st round pick, 2019 2nd round pick, cap mule Grabovski, prospect D-man Jake Bischoff. Vegas takes- JF Berube. Seems like a shitload to give up to get them to take dead weight, but hopefully this helps the Isles solidify the goalie TANDEM. Maybe this makes Halak a happier goalie and he can stay healthy. Bischoff is a good prospect. He played really well in Bridgeport at the end of last year. Bummed to see him go. I hope Berube gets a real shot at being an NHLer, and not a third wheel.

Not the cap relief Isles fans were hoping for in seeing Kulemin go as well, but he's good on the PK, whereas Berube wasn't very good anywhere on the ice this year.

Look forward to seeing a list of all the picks when all is said and done as I can not keep track of all this.

As well this award show is so bad it is good.

Big names taken: Fleury, Neal, Perron, Haula, Karlsson and way too many defencemen. More trades coming.

They have 3 first rounders.

Can someone explain Emelin, Engelland and Sbisa?

Engelland was announced as a Vegas resident and longtime veteran of the LV Wranglers. Seems like a bit of a stretch to me but whatever.

I absolutely cannot explain the other two, especially Sbisa.

I don't get Emelin and Sbisa at all.

The only reason I could see is they either have a deal in place already to trade them for draft picks, or they plan to flip them at the deadline.

5 of the defencemen they drafted are pending UFAs after the upcoming season: Sbisa, Emelin, McNabb, Garrison, Stoner. They must be worth something.

The Nosek pick is a surprise to me as well. He's fairly young at 24 but hasn't stuck. Seems as though Sheahan might have had more trade value or be a better piece going forward with a rebound season. Ouellet would have been a decent defenseman to pick up.

Not much quality to choose from off the Canucks I'm afraid. Good salary dump by Canucks @ $3.6M.

Sure, I get why Vancouver is thrilled to lose him, but Vegas isn't exactly struggling to hit the floor: they're at the cap limit right now! (Before you remove 10M in Clarkson/Grabovski LTIR money)

They must feel they can move Emelin and Sbisa for picks at some point. I see no other reason for selecting them.
