The optics of this are awful for the Panthers organization. Apparently they allowed him to do the post game presser knowing full well he would be fired, then pulled his gear off the team bus and then made him get his own transportation on the road. At least make it discreet and order the guy a car.

Absolutely classless.

Yep!

400 career coaching wins for Michel Therrien. That's quite an accomplishment.

Guy gets a 4-0 win and gets the axe the next day. Gotta love the Isles!

Glad to see him gone, but it's like putting a new tire on a bent rim. The real problem is still Snow. And I liked him up until this off-season.

Hitch gets fired months before he was set to leave anyway. Yeo takes over early.

Is Hitch going to retire now, or will he look for something out of spite? He could be looking for a coach or GM role, in theory.

If he was going to retire this year anyway, would anyone really bring him in for like 40% of a season?

I was thinking he may not want to retire anymore...

Because he got fired?

I don't know if all of his chins can agree on anything. They seem quite oppositional to everything except gravity.

Given how he was talking in interviews, it doesn't sound like Hitch was given much choice in the Blues' decision. He wasn't talking like a guy on his farewell tour. Now I think there's even more impetus to jump on board another organization and stick it to Armstrong.

Boston has a bunch of young players coming up, but they're not ready yet. Whoever's there at the start of 2018 will have inherited a pretty good situation.

Julien kinda signed his own walking papers when he not-so-subtly blasted management.

So this means that two Stanley Cup-winning coaches are available for hire. Now, mind you, I'm guessing Hitch might not want a head coaching role, maybe something else in a managerial aspect, who knows. But teams are gonna be scrambling for Julien.

My bet is Winnipeg gets Claude. It's only a matter of time before Paul Maurice gets the axe.

Stupid move from Sweeney and Neely but unfortunately they've tied their own hands. Surprisingly the core of Boston's team minus Krejci is still propping this team up. But beyond the aging core and Pastrnak there is a garden variety of middling folks who can't seem to contribute. The same guys that Sweeney and Neely paid......Backes, Bellesky, Hayes.......and a pedestrian D-fence that not even someone of Krug's talent can help. Combine that with an overworked Rask and non nhl calibre backups and you have a team struggling to make the playoffs with Claude! Not to mention without Claude. Dark days are ahead for the Bruins with Sweeney at the helm.

The beginning of the end came when the B's divested themselves of Seguin and Hamilton in quick succession. I think they can still turn it around but that hampered them unnecessarily.

Anyhow, I had wondered for a long time whatever happened to Bruce Cassidy after his less-than-stellar NHL HC debut in Washington. Sure enough, some 12 years later, here he is.

Lindy Ruff out as HC in Dallas. Two straight disappointing non-playoff seasons after an unexpectedly great season two years ago.

The team has lost the plot a little bit after striking gold with Seguin. Overpaid 2 goalies and lost Valeri Nichushkin for no good reason.

Weight has hinted he doesn't want to coach, saying he'll be back "somewhere in the Isles organization". I think he'll become President.

No surprise, though not deserved either. Willie Desjardins gets the axe in Vancouver.

Wouldn't be shocked at all if he ends up in Dallas. Also wouldn't be shocked if Lindy ends up in Vancouver.

Kings let Sutter and Lombardi go and replaced with Robitaille and Blake. Heads are rolling quickly this off season
