US edge Russia 13-1 in semi-finals.
Canada beats Finland 3-0 in semi-finals.

Finals tomorrow. US vs Canada. If Canada wins you guys will all suddenly be interested. Fuck you.

This is true. I don't follow women's hockey. I feel somewhat guilty about that.

Well it's very big of you to admit it, particularly now.

I don't have the one obscure channel that showed the game, so I followed the score on my phone. The score auto-updated. I kept wondering if the feed was fucked up. 3-0 US. 4-2 US not long later. 5-5... Not a great day for either starting goalie.

I just wish my girls could have seen the game. They love watching women play; it's great inspiration.

I honestly wouldn't have known the outcome today if I didn't follow Meghan Duggan on Twitter.

Good for them. I do wish women's hockey were a bigger deal, I too feel a bit guilty that I'm not more excited about this.

Well done America! A well deserved win. I actually really enjoy women's hockey. I thought that it was a really good game. If there are two women's hockey teams in the world I think that this matchup is the scrappiest(?) Glad that the gals didn't let us down.

Yep, lots of emotion between these two teams. Wish I could have seen the game.

US takes the 4 Nations Cup from Canada in OT. Hillary Knight scoring on a breakaway. :viking:

I didn't think it warranted a new thread since most of the women's hockey threads I start sit dormant.

Not the World Championship, but the US women beat the Canadian women in the 4 Nations Cup on Saturday, 5-2. :D

Canada whooped Russia 8-0 & the US beat Finland 5-3 to end pool play (that anyone cares about. If you even care about that).

Canada vs Finland rematch in the semi-finals.
US vs Germany (who beat Russia 2-1 today) in semi-finals. Both of those are on Thursday.

Finals on Friday.

Canada has been saving their best for the games that matter, getting revenge on Finland 4-0 in the semis. US takes a nailbiter vs Germany by a mere 11-0. That's not a type of 1-0. Eleven-zero. It's not like you get a higher seed than #1 for winning that big.
Typical US-Canada Finals tonight. Canada looking for revenge for the 2-0 opening game... They'll probably get it.

Tied 1-1 after 1. Great game. Each team hit a post within a 20 second span.

Tied at 2 after regulation, and Hillary Knight gives the US the Gold with a bar down snap shot over Szabodos' stick side shoulder. Knight had blocked a Canadian shot in the US zone, passed it to Coyne, who rushed it into the Canadian zone & left a drop pass for Knight. :viking:
