Some talking head on the radio (Lebrun? Ferraro? Bobby Mac?) said Arizona's new ownership has given Maloney permission to blow this team up.

They might as well get into the McD/Eich sweepstakes. It could be what saves the franchise long enough to move it to Vegas.

Vermette, Yandle, Smith, Gagner and potentially more could be on the block.

One would think they'll hold on to Ekman, Hanzal, Boedkker, Gorm, Murph.

One of Smith or Yandle in a package for Yakupov?

Yandle gets a lot of positive press. Dude puts up points. But man. Whenever I've watched him, he's looked bad defensively. He put up 10 points in 11 games against Detroit in 2 playoff series, but he looked awful to my eyes while doing it. Maybe I haven't seen enough since then because that was almost 4 years ago. What are his fancy stats like?

Gone for sure: Vermette, Michalek

Likely gone: Yandle, Doan, Bødker (just for you, Sask), various scrubs, Erat as soon as he demands ANOTHER trade.

Probably staying: Ekman-Larsson, Gormley, Korpikoski(?), Rieder, Stone

Unfortunately stuck with his horrid contract: Smith

Wild card: Hanzal

I just read the Yotes called up some guy from the minors to back up Smith posted an .899 SV% in the ECHL. :o They be tankin'.

What's the over/under on Tie demanding Maloney to trade his kid to Toronto?

Lot of HF guys say he'll be exposed once he's not being cushioned by OEL and Michalek. I actually haven't looked at his WOWY #s:

Pittsburgh, more likely. Tie is apparently pretty friendly with Mario going back to the 05 lockout.

Toronto doesn't have the assets Phoenix needs to pull off something like this, unless they want to trade Morgan Rielly and James Reimer if Phoenix manages to move Smith's contract.

Here's his 2013-14 WOWY: http://stats.hockeyanalysis.com/showpla ... 14&sit=5v5

Strange that Tippett worked so hard to keep Yandle and OEL apart.

Really, unless I'm reading it wrong his possession numbers don't really have an adverse effect on his teammates.

Thing is, I'd assume whoever trades for him isn't looking at him to be a 1 or 2, so Yandle should be fine.

Whoa, between that and the horrid season Smith is having - welcome to the desert Connor McDavid!

WTF happened to Smith anyway, the guy was an Olympian last year.

3rd rounder is not bad for Dubnyk.

I think the majority of his career he's been marginal to bad, just shown sparks of brilliance here and there, and of course one awesome season. I guess that makes him the anti-Dubnyk, who managed to have his one bad season when he was up for a new contract.

Concussions didn't help. Trying to obstruct players coming in full speed when he had a history of concussions REALLY didn't help.

Very odd Maloney very rarely went out and paid big money given the franchise's obvious financial constraints, but the two times he really did so, he picked two of the biggest, riskiest gambles he could have possibly found. Naturally, neither one worked out.

Holy crap. This team is horrible. So horrible that the vaunted defense of the Avs held the Coyotes to ZERO SHOTS in the 2nd. ZERO. Roy even felt comfortable enough to put oft-maligned Reto Berra and his .884 SV% in the third. He wasn't great, but the Avs still stomped 'em 5-2.

Well, one way to jumpstart a rebuild, get the rights to Chris Pronger.

I don't understand how in hell he's eligible for the HOF. If he hasn't filed his retirement paperwork, I don't care if he's working for the league office or not, he's not retired, especially if teams are still trading his still-active contract.

I personally have a harder time understanding how his payroll is eligible to count toward the Cap when everyone on the planet has known for 5 years he's been done.

Well, Philly knew the risks when they traded for and extended him at 35+, and it blew up in their faces in the worst way imaginable. I don't like the fact that they got a get-out-of-jail-free card on this though. But I suppose if not for Philly and their ridiculously impetuous moves, NHL offseasons would be boring.

Because it's the Hockey HOF not the NHL Hall of Fame?

So Sean Burke has been granted permission to talk to other teams, is he still with the organization?
