Oilers show K-oooger the door

Dallas Eakins rumoured to be the replacement. That'll fix everything!

Too bad the Stars didn't try harder.

So any fatties playing for the Oilers? they just got a little worried.

Don't follow the AHL so curious to see if Eakins hype is warranted or just a product of the Toronto media engine.

I thought someone posted on this site in the Toronto forum that Eakins is pretty much Ron Wilson 2.0, which should be great news for Oilers fans...for one season at least.

On one hand, I don't blame MacTavish for not flying out to see Krueger in person for a meeting that might last all of 1 minute. That said, it looks readily apparent the Oilers weren't interested in retaining him, so why wait until he's halfway across the world?

Eh, they wanted to bring in Eakins as an assistant, and when it became apparent he wouldn't take that, they had to make a decision on Kruger or Eakins. I can see why the delay.

That said, the last time they did a Head Coach with his assistant as coach in waiting was the start of their decline into the cellar... Quinn with Renney.

Bourne just put up a great piece on that very thing:

So...think some folks in the NHL might consider K-oooger for a coaching job if he somehow ends up winning the World Cup with Team Europe?

If he can bring the older Island of Misfit Toys to the promised land, why not?
